We bought this for tobacco smoke smell. I'm sure it takes some of the oder out, but not enough to suit my wife. I would recommend it for everything else though...great on pet odors, urine etc.

It is most unfortunate that some neighborhoods are filled with thick gray wood smoke in the winter. As much as you may have caulked, the next minute smoke particles find their way into your home, making your life miserable and unhealthy. After doing a great deal of research on the best air purifier to help with this problem, I purchased the Airpura T600. I found it takes about an hour and a half at high speed to clean the inside air of a 1,900 square foot house with open architecture. High speed is loud, however, once you rid the air of the bulk of the smoke you can lower the speed to a very quiet low. Instructions recommend leaving the unit on at low.

The unit is attractive in appearance yet very heavy, weighing around 50 pounds. There are coasters which makes moving the purifier very easy. One disadvantage relates to the filters. There are no indicators and removal requires tipping the unit upside down and using a screwdriver. However the efficacy of the purifier outweighed the cons. Since I used the purifier only for a short time towards the end of the winter, I cannot comment on any long term use. All in all, I am pleased so far.
