The U-shaped lamp's 17-in. germicidal surface is two times the length of conventional UV lights. That means it is two times more effective against pathogens. The location of the UV lamp inside the filter chamber helps to ensure that no microbes escape back into your air. In addition, this 10,000-hour lamp can be switched on and off if you desire, and it features a status indicator signal to let you know when it's almost time for a replacement.
