The Alen MDF3-50 50 pint dehumidifier is one of Alen's most popular dehumidifiers, and for good reason, too. The power makes it good for any home and the compact design makes it easy to place and store. It delivers 620 watts of dehumidifying power and is also Energy Star rated, meaning this model is energy efficient as well as powerful! The MDF3-50 has adjustable humidity settings and can be installed to drain through water pipes (recommended if you live in a hurricane zone) and also comes with a 9.5 liter removable water tank. Have seasonal humidity? Use the tank. Live in a contunually humid area? Make the Alen MDF3-50 a permanent member of your plumbing family!

Like the other Alen models, the MDF3-50 has simple style. Hide it in a corner if you want, but no one will mind if you leave it out in the open. Wherever you decide to put it, Alen made it easy to move by installing built-in casters on the bottom. Lots of electronic features, fan settings, and humidity adjustments to play with and a washable filter make the MDF3-50 not only practical, but fun! This model offers two fan speeds and a humidistat that allows the user to set humidity levels from 35% - 80%. For optimal indoor air quality, we recommend a setting between 35% and 50%.

What is the ideal humidity level this unit should maintain?

We recommend you maintain a humidity level of between 45 and 50 percent. Too much humidity creates an ideal environment for mold, dust mites, bacteria, and pests to thrive. Too little humidity can be just as damaging by causing health issues such as an increase in colds and the flu and irritated skin and respiratory passages. Should a dehumidifier be setup as close to floor level as possible or will they work the same if raised a few feet up off the ground?

Dehumidifiers can be either situated on a floor level or raised without affecting operation. When raised a few feet, the dehumidifier will benefit from improved gravity drainage.
