The Alen Paralda HEPA Air Purifier is the first unit on the market to meet both Energy Star and RoHS standards for energy efficiency and lead-free operation. In addition to filtering out allergy-triggering pollen, mold, and dust particles, this air cleaner helps you reduce your energy use and save money on power bills. When operating at its highest speed, the Paralda uses only 55 watts of power. That’s less than a standard light bulb. In addition, the unit features a lead-free and ozone-safe design, making it kinder to the environment.

Designed to cover a 400-sq.-ft. space, the Alen Paralda air cleaner features a patent-pending airflow system and HEPA filtration. To achieve faster and more efficient airflow, room air is pulled into the unit from the back and then circulated out of vents located on each side. Its powerful HEPA filter removes 99.97% of airborne particles measuring 0.3 microns and larger. To aid the filtration process, the 4-speed unit uses an independently controlled ionizer. When the ionizer is activated, negative ions are released into the air. These ions attach themselves to positively charged particles to form larger particles that are more easily captured by the HEPA filter. For even more effective air purification, this Alen air purifier also uses an internal UV germicidal lamp to eliminate bacteria and other disease-causing pathogens from the filtered air. The UV lamp has an exceptionally long life of 3 to 5 years, which will save you money on bulb replacements.

Unlike other air cleaners that may hamper home or office décor, the Paralda tower features a sleek, new age design. With a translucent outer body that is accented by a bamboo green inner core, the unit complements almost any interior. Usability features include a digital programmable control panel, which can be used to toggle between fan speeds and to program timed operation; filter and bulb replacement indicators that let you know when it’s time to replace the HEPA filter and UV bulb; and a cable management system for safe excess cable storage. New for 2009, Alen has introduced a Silver Ion HEPA Filter option for the Paralda air purifier. This specialized HEPA replacement filter is coated with silver, an eco-friendly and non-toxic substance that naturally provides anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral protection. Alen Silver Ion HEPA filters have been proven to reduce up to 50% of airborne viruses that cause the common flu and up to 98% of airborne bacteria. Moreover, because this filter is antimicrobial, it helps curb germ build-up inside the unit and prevents bacteria from being blown back into your indoor air.
