We ordered two of these organic mattress covers, one for our daughter's twin bed and one to protect our new king-sized mattress. Our daughter's bed isn't organic, so I wanted a cleaner barrier for her lie on. Our king mattress is a "natural" latex-type material, which is fairly "clean" and free of chemicals, but I hear that material can harbor more dust mites, and while my husband and I don't have asthma, I want to feel comfortable letting our newborn nap on our bed.
So I did a good amount of research to compare price with micron pore size, breathability, and fabric quality. Sylvane provided the best bang for the buck. I was pleased to be able to get organic, chemical-free fabric for the price they offered, as I don't see much point to reducing dust mite irritation if you're just replacing it with irritation from chemicals from the cotton, processing, or factory.
As instructed, I washed the covers in warm water and put them through a dryer, letting them dry completely before putting them on the mattresses. If they did shrink, it didn't change their ability to fit as described by the measurements. The zippers seem strong and reliable, and it all went on without a problem.
I haven't had them for long, so I can't attest to their longevity, but they seem well-made. Also, since none of my family members are allergy sufferers, I can't really say this made a big difference in our comfort, but I do strongly value these covers in terms of preventative care for little lungs and big mattress investments, especially since we live in New York and they double as protection from bed bugs.
