After becoming aware of potential environmental issues while sleeping, we a purchased natural latex mattress and foundation.

That started the need for additional natural bedding products. I purchase 100% cotton sheets and bedspread and pillows made of organic material.

Although I have always used 100% cotton pillow protectors, the ones I had were not organic and were not substantial.

My Internet search for organic pillow protectors provided several options. Since my new pillows are designed to naturally resist mites and bed bugs, and are non-allergenic, I did not need all the features of the AllerSoft pillow protector but ultimately, the AllerSoft protectors, offered by Sylvane, seemed to meet all my requirements.

One of the things that made it difficult for me to order pillow protectors on-line was trying to figure out measurements. Several reviews I saw of other pillow protectors said they were too small for their pillows. A normal king-size pillow measures 20" x 36" and any pillow protector dimensions I found were also 20" x 36." The only pillow protector I could find that was slightly larger was the AllerSoft listed on the Sylvane site as 21" x 37."

My only concern was that the pillow protectors would not be thick enough since I saw a variation in thread count from 200 to 400 and the AllerSoft was only listed as 285 thread count. However, when they arrived, any concern was gone. The AllerSoft pillow protectors are much thicker than my old pillow protectors are and after washing are still slightly larger than my actual pillow. The protector itself is not soft but once a pillowcase is on, this is not a problem.

For what I wanted, the AllerSoft pillow protectors exceeded my expectation and I highly recommend them for anyone looking for this type of product. And, for me, it is a bonus that they are made in the USA.

I use them in our bedroom and in the kid's room and we have not had any problems with them. They are very comfortable, I love they way they zip and they are easy to clean. Really can't ask anymore from a pillow protector.

When I bought new pillows, I wanted a natural fabric pillow protector. I wanted protection from dust mites, but I didn't want to sleep on plastic. These pillow protectors are good. They are a little noisy when moving around, but it more that it is noticeable than a bother. I like that they are not only cotton, but organic cotton. I figure I'm spending about 1/3 of my time in bed, so it's a good place to splurge on more natural products.

I am very impressed by the high quality appearance and feel of the AllerSoft pillow protector. My sleep has improved, and I am happy I made the purchase.

I want to add something about the washing and drying. After washing (using just a little soap), in less than 15 minutes the pillow protector went from very wet to completely dry on the low setting in my dryer. As is written on the paper insert, I would first make sure it is completely dried before using the pillow protector, but for me it took a lot less time than I thought it would take; just want to say that it is very possible to leave it in the dryer too long, and it probably is best to take a look at it soon after putting it in.
