I have been using Bionaire humidifiers in my home for the past several years. When I accidentaly broke one of the Bionaire water reservoirs I thought I might do well to look at the present market offerings. I believed the exagerated coverage claims of the Bemis/Essick company and purchased the D46-720.

When it arrived I noted the poor quality and frail nature of the humidifier compared to the Bionaire units. I never would of bought this unit if I had seen it in a store. It looked like a piece of junk and its looks pretty much tell the story. The machine would shut off even when there was water in both tanks, or one tank, or would not turn on when both tanks were full. I tried to move the unit after I had filled the tanks and the paper thin plastic on one of the tanks fractured. It does work better now with one tank! I guess it is less confused.

The area coverage claims are a joke. It does not do as well as the Bionaire which honestly claims to cover 400 ft. The Bemis/Essick company is selling a poor quality machine and misrepresenting its performance. Stay clear of this unit and this company. There are much better humidifiers out there. I can personally recommend the Bionaire company since they represent their humidifiers honestly and provide a quality product.

Product shows red light for empty but tanks are full. used for 3 months will not start up with full tanks. Of course warranty is over. poor quality. have to be careful changing filters so you don't break covers.

Our first unit had the fan go out in 1 day! The second unit's fan just went out today after less than 2 months operation. Garbage. And try to figure out where to take it for warranty work...a mystery.

This product seemed very nice upon arrival for a purchase made for my fiance's son, who has considerable medical problems at times. I purchased it to add some more moisture in the environment within the residence that they were living in at the time. When the unit arrived, it appeared to have been roughed up quite a bit from the shipping company. It also seemed difficult for her to figure out the installation of the filters, because there was either a piece missing, or it was damaged in shipment.

Either way, the company that it was purchased through stood behind the return, and at this time, after winter, it still has yet to have been replaced with a similar brand or different unit, more user-friendly. Thanks again, for the professional approach with the purchase and the return.

Great humidifier for the price, The water bottles empty every 14 hours or so on high humidity output, overall I am very pleased. I also like the 4 speed setting for the blower.

The only problems I've had with this humidifier are that the tabs on the wick/filter covers broke off, and the wick/filters themselves began growing fungus after 4 months of use. The fungal growth is mostly because I neglected to utilize the proper bacteriostatic/fungus water treatment. The tabs on the covers has never really been an issue. The covers stay on quite well even without the tabs holding them in place. If you move your humidifier around frequently, some tape would do the trick.

Take my advice: Put the recommended amount of bacteriostatic/fungus treatment in every tank of water when you refill the water reservoirs. We had ours sitting in front of a Rinnai stove as well for the first month or two, which probably compounded the problem. I've disposed of the old filters and I'm currently working on buying replacements.

I had my humidifier for less than three months, when I went to change the filters the clips on the door to hold them in broke off on both the back and the front. I haven't been able to replace them, but have them taped on for now. Otherwise, I like the humidifier.

I do like my tower humidifier, however, I have had it 3 months, running it constantly, and when I cleaned it, the filters had a strong mold smell wich I cannot wash out. I would like to know if the mold smell came from my apartment or if this is a natural happening. I use filtered water via a pur water faucet attatchment. I also have a mold smell in a storage room behind the bathtub. Please tell me if this is a common ocurance or if room air intake is the cause. Thank you
