Working in accounting here at Sylvane, I don’t always have the opportunity to get a closer look at our products and get a feel for how they work in real-life situations. But this is exactly what happened when I needed a dehumidifier to help clean-up after a recent indoor flood on my rental property. On the recommendation of our sales manager, I decided to purchase a Danby dehumidifier.
I own a 1,150-square-foot house that is rented out. My tenant had only been in the house for a week when I received a call that the water pipe connected to the master bathroom toilet had been leaking for hours—perhaps even days. As a result, all three bedrooms in the house were flooded. It’s a ranch-style house on concrete slab, so the water had nowhere to go but deep into my carpets. I needed a solution that would dry the area fast and restore the house back to good condition for my tenant.

We’re only one month into the beautiful Fall season and half of the U.S. is already seeing chilly, windy weather that feels more like winter. Yesterday, with the low here in the mid-30s, I had to pull out my old faithful space heater for the first time since January and boy was it a lifesaver! Portable heaters are great for days when it’s not cold enough to run your central heating unit. They also serve as an efficient source of supplemental heat to your central system, leading to significant savings on rising energy costs.
There are so many benefits of using a personal space heater; I could go on and on. So if you don’t already have one, there’s no time like the present. Just in time for cool Fall nights, our most popular space heaters from top brands are on sale for up to 25% off the original price now through October 31st.

Take one look around your favorite store this month and you’ll be dazzled by scores of pretty pink products that incorporate the iconic pink ribbon symbol. That’s because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time when individuals and organizations come together to promote awareness and education about the disease and raise funds for research, prevention, and finding a cure. This month, while you’re perusing these products and raising awareness in other ways, remember you can also shop pink and show your support with Rabbit air purifiers.
California-based Rabbit Air will donate 5% of each sale of the Rabbit Air BioGS Special Edition Air Purifier to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The money raised will go toward funding genetic and clinical research at medical centers worldwide as well as to increasing public awareness and educating individuals about prevention and early detection. To date, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has raised more than $330 million for breast cancer research, awareness, and the search for a cure, with more than 90 cents of every dollar donated going directly to awareness programs and research grants.

Bed bugs – they’re creepy, crawly, and have taken over homes across America over the last few years. Dealing with a bed bug infestation is a downright nuisance that can literally drive you crazy, so it’s no surprise that people are willing to do whatever it takes to rid their homes of these bloodsucking pests right away. With such hysteria over the current bed bug epidemic, many Americans are taking drastic measures to eliminate the problem, including fumigating their homes to extreme degrees.
However, a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that frequent and excessive applications of chemical products to kill bed bugs can be more hazardous to your health than the effects of a bed bug infestation. A healthier alternative for effective bed bug remediation, steam cleaners are a chemical-free way to get rid of bed bugs naturally.
