The other day I was vacuuming my daughter’s room when I noticed that my trusty Bissell Lift-Off Pet Vacuum was no longer suctioning up her dropped Cheerios. It was actually flinging them across the room with every sweep. It dawned on me then that it has been some time (a few years, in fact!) that I’ve actually performed any other recommended maintenance on my vacuum besides emptying the dust bin regularly. Clearly, it was time to show a little TLC to the big dusty thing.

And so for me, spring cleaning 2014 began with cleaning and servicing my number one cleaning tool. Here’s how I did it.

Dyson recently announced a voluntary recall on their popular AM04 and AM05 heater fans. The recall announcement came after 4 products created “contained” fires, reportedly started by internal burn-outs in the heating element.
For more information or to register your Dyson AM04 or AM05 for the recall, visit the Dyson Recall Site.
An innovator in home appliances, Dyson first introduced their fans in 2009 and released the heater version in 2011. These unique fans and heater fans use air multiplier technology instead of traditional fan blades. Dyson’s standard fans (without heat) aren’t affected by the recall since they don’t include the heating element.
Dyson suggests all owners of AM04 and AM05 models visit their recall site to get the ball rolling and receive directions on how to proceed. They’re releasing new information soon, so check back here or visit their recall site for more information. You can also contact Dyson’s helpline at 1-866-297-5303.

Two of my favorite things in life are cooking and spending time with my pets. Unfortunately (and despite my best efforts), they both can cause pretty pungent odors in my home. For years, plug-in and aerosol air fresheners were my go-to solution. But after a while I noticed these “fresh smells” often coincided with headaches and allergy flare-ups. I dug a little deeper and didn’t like what I read—luckily I found better ways to keep my home healthy and odor-free.

What’s on the inside matters most–that’s what I’ve always heard. Not that you would know it by looking at Dyson vacuums, which look more like gadgets than vacuum cleaners.
But when it came to creating the DC65 vacuums, an update to their popular DC41 line, Dyson focused on what’s inside their vacuums. So even though they look like past models, they’re even better than ever. Want more good news? We’re offering 20% off all Dyson models during our vacuum sale (using discount code DYSON20)—including the new DC65 models.
Let’s compare their 3 new models and check out what improvements have been made. More information on our vacuum sale can also be found below, which includes 10% off various other vacuum cleaner brands.
