The Dyson Experience: An Interactive Training

I was lucky enough to experience “Dyson at the Fox”, the company’s most interactive training yet. A few of us from Sylvane had the privilege to test drive several of their new and existing products. I learned a lot of cool stuff and found my new favorite product! Check out my photos from the training and see which products I was most impressed with below.

College Football Stadiums Add Cooling Stations for Fans

After a relatively mild summer, various parts of the country have been hit with some pretty steamy weather lately. In fact, New York’s hottest day of the year was just a few days ago. These high temperatures arrived right when many sports, most notably college football, kicked off their fall season. The surprisingly hot weather has caused several stadiums to add cooling stations and misting fans to their grounds.

For many people, college football means tailgating all day, walking around college campuses, and drinking alcohol. As temperatures rise into the 80s and higher, it’s important for fans to stay cool. Continue reading…

How to Make Quick Work of a Flooded Warehouse

new-429-large_size_image-dri-eaz-sahara-pro-daisy-chainThe Atlanta area has literally been flooded with rain recently. Typically our summers look a lot like Florida: Scorching hot during the day with a few pop up showers in the afternoon. Lately it has been more like “take cover because a long, torrential downpour is on the way.”

All the rain this past weekend left one furniture store with quite a mess! Their basement, which serves as warehouse space with lots of valuable pieces, was completely flooded when rain leaked into their basement. By the time the skies cleared nearly a foot of standing water was present in some areas.

Luckily, a few sturdy Sylvane products came to the rescue. In fact, the water damage was taken care of by the end of the weekend, so it didn’t influence business come Monday morning. One of our popular shop vacs removed a large amount of the water and debris, before a few industrial fans removed excess moisture in the floors, wood, and boxes.

If you’re ever in the same predicament, these products could save you a lot of hassle and money. Let’s take a look at what happened:

Must-Haves For a Healthy, Clean Dorm Room

collegeIs summer really almost over? If my morning commute was any indication, the answer is definitely yes. While the end of summer really only affects my commute and time spent at the pool, there are parents across the country sending kids off to college for the first time.

Described as “the best 4 years of your life,” college living situations (particularly old, dirty dorms) are generally less than ideal. I was in for quite a shock when I first walked into my dorm room–it was dusty, hot, and a far cry from the house I grew up in…and for better or worse, my college apartments never got much better.

So whether your child is off to college for the first time or heading back after summer, they’re probably entering a less-than-desirable living situation. Here are some must-have products to improve their air quality and keep them comfortable for the school year ahead.

Eva-Dry E-100 Eliminator Buckets

eva-dry-e-100-eliminator-bucketsThe Eva-Dry E-100 is a unique disposable product that removes moisture and odors for up to 60 days. Its carbon and micro-absorbing crystals absorb moisture, musty odors, and allergens from closets, storage bins, and other small areas. They’re ideal for college students who don’t have easy access to laundry facilities and are living in small dorm rooms with poor air quality.

Even better, they fit into any college student’s budget since they cost around $20. In fact, the Eliminator buckets are on sale right now! Continue reading…

Sylvane Introduces Bathroom Fans to Product Line Up

Hot off the presses! We’ve added a new family of products to our ever-expanding catalog of indoor air quality solutions. Say hello to bathroom fans!

Did you know that all those steamy showers and bubble baths you take could be damaging your home’s infrastructure? That’s right. Prolonged humidity in your bathroom can trigger mold and mildew growth, cause paint and wallpaper to peel, and in more severe cases, even lead to wood rot inside your walls. If you find that your bathroom feels muggy after a shower and there’s condensation building up on your mirrors and windows, you might benefit from adding a bathroom fan.
