Whether it comes from a roaring, rustic fire or your dependable central heating system, nothing is quite as comforting during the chilly winter months as walking into your home and being enveloped in warmth. For all of the comfort that a warm home provides, it removes a crucial element of your healthy indoor environment—moisture. Adding a humidifier to your area can restore proper moisture levels to your home as well as re-ignite your comfort.
Along with creating a generally uncomfortable environment, parched indoor air can lead to chapped lips, dry and itchy skin, irritated sinuses, upper respiratory problems, and more. It can also cause structural damage to your home and furnishings by causing wood to crack. When the weather forecast called for a wintry mix on January 9, like many Atlantans, I sat back and eagerly anticipated a snow day. I was definitely not prepared for multiple days of being stuck in my house. However, one positive outcome has resulted from what some are calling “Snowpocalypse”. Did you know that part of the Sylvane story began with our company president’s severe tree pollen allergy? Steven Hong was searching for allergy treatment options to combine with immunotherapy and medications when he began researching the benefits of air purifiers. After purchasing his first air purifier, an Austin Air Healthmate, Hong was overwhelmed with the positive results he experienced using it. He immediately began researching other high-quality air purifiers, talking to vendors, developing a Web site, and—voila! In 2000, Sylvane.com was born.
Providing exceptional-quality air purifiers has been one of the cornerstones of Sylvane. In fact, a leading consumer reporting agency recently recommended two air purifiers that we carry: the Whirlpool AP51030K and the Hunter 30547. These air purifiers were recommended because they offer a great combination of performance, features, and value.

As a lifelong resident of the Southeastern United States, I am all too familiar with the delicate balance of humidity and coolness necessary to stay comfortable during steamy summer months. To achieve this harmony, many people look for air treatment solutions such as dehumidifiers to remove uncomfortable and potentially harmful excess moisture from their homes. With so many of these appliances on the market, how do you know which one is the best value?
A leading consumer reporting agency recently ranked two Danby dehumidifiers offered by Sylvane among their top picks for efficient, cost-effective moisture removal options. The Danby DDR6009REE ranked among the top five for large-capacity dehumidifiers, and the Danby DDR5009REE ranked among the top five as well for medium-capacity dehumidifiers.

With a home occupied by two dogs, carpet, and loads of potential allergy triggers, I am always on the lookout for a great vacuum. For their March issue, Consumer Reports tested and rated 67 different vacuum cleaners. Two upright vacuum cleaners offered by Sylvane were chosen as CR Best Buys and an Electrolux canister vacuum ranked among the top five for canister vacuum cleaners.
Vacuums were compared and ranked among similar models based on price, weight, replacement bag costs, and overall score. The ratings also figured in test results based on carpet cleaning, bare floor cleaning, total airflow, noise, emissions, handling, and pet hair removal.
