Hard water is a common problem that characterizes 85% of the water supply in the U.S. alone. Identified by its dissolved mineral content, composed mainly of calcium and magnesium, hard water is harmful to home appliances and pipes. While hard water does not necessarily pose a health risk, repeated exposure can cause a mineral build-up that decreases the efficiency of appliances and pipes, and can ultimately cause them to stop working completely. In addition to using a demineralization filter as a preventative measure to protect your humidifier, you can clean it with a specialized cleaner, like the liquid humidifier cleaner from Crane.
The Crane Descaler (HS-1933) is 8-ounces of cleaner designed to get your humidifier clean and get rid of the scale build-up that results from hard water use.
