The Danby DDR30E Dehumidifier is specifically designed for light dehumidification of small areas up to 2,000 square feet. Featuring a soft-touch control panel with adjustable humidity settings, two fan speeds, and convenient indicator lights, the Danby DDR30E helps you achieve the precise relative humidity level to protect your home and other valued possessions from damage caused by excess moisture in your environment. Since a properly dehumidified home also prevents mold and mildew growth, these dehumidifiers also benefit allergy- and asthma-sufferers.
These dehumidifiers also include several features for added ease of use, such as a front-mounted water tank with a water level indicator, continuous drain capability, a re-usable air filter, quiet operation, and casters for portability.
Using eco-friendly R-410A and possessing an Energy Star rating, these Danby Premiere dehumidifiers are environmentally friendly and energy efficient.
Excess moisture in your environment can wreak havoc on your furniture, hardwood floors, home structure, and more. The Danby DDR30E effectively removes up to 30 pints of moisture from your environment every 24 hours, allowing you to maintain a comfortable humidity level within your home. This Danby dehumidifier draws moist air into the unit, passes it over an evaporator coil to condense the moisture, deposits the unnecessary moisture into a removable water tank, and delivers clean, dry air into your room.
The front-mounted water tank can be easily removed, emptied, and returned to the unit to continue collecting unwanted moisture. It also includes a water tank level indicator, which provides a clear view of the water level. This handy feature allows you to avoid the water tank becoming full and interrupting operation of the dehumidifier.
This Danby dehumidifier also features a continuous gravity drainage option. Using this drainage option, simply insert a hose (not included) into the drainage outlet and direct the hose in a downhill direction to a receptacle, preferably a basement drain. This gives you the freedom to run the dehumidifier continuously without worrying about water overflow.
The compact dehumidifier also features an auto de-icer to prevent unwanted ice build-up on the condenser coils. If the dehumidifier turns off due to a power outage, it will automatically restart using the most recent settings.
The electronic soft-touch control panel allows you to easily adjust the settings of your Danby DDR30E. A convenient LED readout displays your room’s relative humidity. When adjusting the humidity level, this readout will show the precise relative humidity setting (between 30% and 90%) that you indicate for the dehumidifier. Once the relative humidity is set, the dehumidifier's compressor will automatically cycle on and off to maintain your desired humidity level.
The Danby DDR30E also has a continuous operation mode. When this mode is selected, the dehumidifier will run continuously regardless of the room’s relative humidity level.
Along the top of the control panel, indicator lights illuminate to show if the dehumidifier is if the water tank is full or if the dehumidifier is operating in defrost mode due to low temperature.
Danby DDR30E dehumidifiers are Energy Star-rated products, which mean that they have more efficient refrigeration coils, compressors, and fans for moisture removal. Energy Star dehumidifiers also remove the same amount of moisture as similarly-sized standard units; however, they consume 10–20% less energy. In fact, Energystar.gov reports that the energy saved by using Energy Star qualified dehumidifiers could power a refrigerator for up to six months!
In addition, these portable dehumidifiers use R-410A refrigerant, which does not deplete ozone.

The Danby DDR30E is our third dehumidifier in as many years, and we couldn't be more satisfied with the unit and its performance. Our first unit was very old and reliable, but was too expensive to operate. Our second, although rated very highly on another website, broke beyond repair after eighteen months.
While other manufacturers drop their warranties after twelve months and do not offer support afterwards, Danby stands by its product for two years. Add this extra year to Sylvane's excellent customer service and we have felt very secure in our purchase.
Since we have had the unit, our energy consumption has not increased significantly. The unit does not give off the heat of our past units, although it does run slightly warm at times.
In the past, we have had to operate our dehumidifier constantly. We have found the Danby DDR30E does not require constant operation to reduce the humidity in our home. In particular, we appreciate being able to set a specific humidity level to assure we are not making our home air too dry.
The unit has been quiet enough to operate close to our bedrooms without any complaint, even with the fan on the higher setting. Although it is not a huge inconvenience, a fairly quiet alarm sounds when the unit reservoir needs emptying. Since the fan on the unit continues to operate when it is full, the alarm is the only warning system the unit employs, but it does wake us up. We avoid the alarm by emptying the reservoir in the late evening.
This dehumidifier is great for a very humid home such as ours. With careful operation according to the instructions and regular cleaning, we hope to have this unit for many years to come. We fully recommend the Danby DDR30E, as well as the really helpful support of Sylvane.

We bought this machine in May, 2011. It stopped working (with gentle use and regular cleaning) after 6 months. The company, Danby, wants to send us upwards of an hour drive away from our city to have it repaired. This requirement came after they asked me to pay $70 for a repair person to come to our home and I refused (the first repair company didn't have a store-front).
Danby refuses to replace the machine nor to allow us to ship the unit for repair. So we are either forced to take two half- days from work (not to mention spend money on gas) to take it to be repaired or buy another machine.
When you consider this machine, please note its extremely short life-span and the cost of repairing it (while under warranty).

This product is used in my basement. I have an older home, and it helps tremendously in keeping the basement fresh smelling instead of musty.

The product does exactly what it states. It works rather fast.
I will say it is very loud. I have it in my basement and can hear it two rooms away upstairs. I would not suggest anyone use it in a room where they need to hear people or a TV.

This is a very noisy dehumidifier. It gets the work done but it's hard to stand. I usually leave it on for a few hours and leave the house.

SHIPPING/DELIVERY
This unit was shipped double boxed and packed with plenty of shredded paper. Upon opening the box and reading over the directions I went right to work putting this thing together, it was a snap!
UNPACKING/ASSEMBLY
I removed packing tape from the front and sides of the unit, opened the water tray and removed the items stored there (the hose and four casters). I laid the unit on it's side and inserted the four casters into place, they were very easy to install, they snapped right in place. I decided to use the on board water tank versus the included hose, I think the hose would be a better choice if you had a drain nearby and I could have used a five gallon bucket but this unit was unattended and I wanted the security of the automatic shutoff, there is a float in the tray that stops the unit when it gets full. Another nice feature is the fold down handle in the tank, it makes for easy carrying when it needs to be emptied.
OPERATION
After removing all the soaked debris I placed the unit in my crawl space. I turned the unit on and adjusted the humidity level as low as it would go (30%), turned the fan to high and placed extra fans into the space to move more air. I have read many reviews that people complain that the fan runs continuosly, that is really a good thing. If you do not move the air around how can the humidity be read and removed properly? The unit worked flawlessly, I had to empty the tank twice in less than 24 hours, the relative humidity went down 10% overnight.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Regardless of what others say this dehumidifier is pretty quiet, much more so than the air purifiers I own. Another great option this unit has is the defrost function which makes this useable in colder areas, a great option for this price range. The only downfall to this unit is when I remove the water tank for emptying a small amount of water leaks out from the upper left corner, not a deal breaker. The unit is well constructed and designed well, I have not owned it long enough to comment on the reliability but so far so good.
I would certainly reccomend this unit to anyone requriring one.

When I opened my box, I plugged in the dehumidifier and it just hummed. The controls were easy to read and the unit was easy to program without taking hours reading the instructions. I hooked it up to a drain so I have no idea how much water it took out of the air but you could see it dripping. I can feel a huge difference after only 18 hours.

Comments about Danby DDR30E Dehumidifier:
So far, we are pleased with the purchase of this dehumidifier. We bought it for my husband's camper in South Carolina that he stays in when he goes hunting. When he's not there for several weeks at a time, the camper gets very hot and humid. He has a problem with inhaling mold and mildew and so it's important that he stay in a dry environment.
We purchased this dehumidifier for him to use when he leaves the camper. Since he's not there a lot, it was vital to have a dehumidifier that had an external drain capability as this model does. And Danby even supplied the drain hose - thank you!
He sets up the dehumidifer on a chair in the door to the bathroom, which is about in the center of the camper. Then he runs the drain hose into the bathtub. That ensures that the water runs downhill! He leaves it running on low while he's gone.
In terms of the display, it is very helpful to have the current humidity displayed so that we know where we're starting from and how quickly the humidity is going down. I don't understand the purpose of having two fan speeds - does the higher speed dry the area more quickly?
I didn't understand why the fan runs all the time - that just uses more electricity. According to the manual, "The fan runs constantly to circulate air and get a proper humidity reading". The fans in the dehumidifiers we have at home come on only when the humidity exceeds the threshold we have set, so somehow they are sensing the humidity without the fan being on. I would say that is the only negative comment I have about this machine, and it is minor. The fan is quiet on the low speed we use.
All in all, we are quite pleased so far with the performance of this dehumidifier. We look forward to enjoying our dry, comfortable rooms!

Comments about Danby DDR30E Dehumidifier:
I purchased the Danby DDR30E in April 2012 because I knew I would need it in our Master Bath and Bedroom during the hot, humid Spring and Summer months in Atlanta. The humidity often goes above 50% after taking a shower or when we turn off the Air Conditioning when we leave for the work day. I am very sensitive to mold spores and dust mites. This little unit works wonderfully to remove the humidity! The only issue we have is the noise. We have ceramic floors in the MBath and wood floors in the MBedroom, so the unit can be quite loud if placed in the same room we are using at the time. In the evening, I place it in the MBath and shut the door while it is running. This does not bother us while we sleep. I will be purchasing another Danby shortly for our basement (probably the 60-pint), as the current unit there just broke last week..
Comments about Danby DDR30E Dehumidifier:
Everything good to say about a DDR30E. From the moment of contacting Sylvane I was treated by a friendly person, knowledgeable, most patient and helpful while exchanging a few email questions. The unit was delivered within three days of placing order and arrived in packaging with enough protection to have dropped it from an aeroplane. It is easy to understand the controls and operate, a little wind noise but nothing unbearable.
It works well in conjunction with a humidity control unit fitted to my grand piano that depends on a tight humidity range.
I am very happy and thanks to Sylvane my piano is well protected now.
