** Now available! New and improved Danby 45-Pint dehumidifier Danby DDR45A1GP 45 Pint Dehumidifier **
User-friendly features and energy-efficiency make the Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier a great solution for removing excess moisture from your small- to medium-sized space. This portable dehumidifier comes with an electronic soft-touch control pad for ease of operation. In addition, an LED readout allows you to program your perfect relative humidity level using the adjustable humidistat.
Part of the Danby Premiere line of residential dehumidifiers, this model also includes casters, two powerful fan speeds, a convenient front-mounted water tank, a continuous drain option, an auto de-icer, a continuous operation mode, and multiple other features to keep up to 2,500 square feet of space comfortable. The Danby DDR45E is an Energy Star-rated dehumidifier and uses eco-friendly R-410A refrigerant.
Excess moisture in your environment can irritate allergy- and asthma-symptoms by providing a breeding ground for mold and mildew. It can also damage your home's structure, hardwood floors, and other valued possessions by causing swelling. The Danby DDR45E effectively removes up to 45 pints of moisture from your environment every 24 hours, allowing you to maintain a comfortable humidity level and healthy indoor air quality within your home. This Danby dehumidifier draws moist air into the unit, passes it over an evaporator coil to condense the moisture, deposits the unnecessary moisture into a removable water tank, and delivers clean, dry air into your room.
The front-mounted water tank can be easily removed, emptied, and returned to the unit to continue collecting unwanted moisture. It also includes a water tank level indicator, which provides a clear view of the water level. This handy feature allows you to avoid the water tank becoming full and interrupting operation of the dehumidifier.
This Danby dehumidifier also features a continuous gravity drainage option. Using this drain option, simply insert a hose (not included) into the drain outlet and direct the hose in a downhill direction to a receptacle, preferably a basement drain. This gives you the freedom to run the dehumidifier continuously without worrying about water overflow.
The compact dehumidifier also features an auto de-icer to prevent unwanted ice build-up on the condenser coils. If the dehumidifier turns off due to a power outage, it will automatically restart using the most recent settings.
Danby DDR45E dehumidifier is an Energy Star-rated product, which mean it has more efficient refrigeration coils, compressors, and fans for moisture removal. Energy Star dehumidifiers also remove the same amount of moisture as similarly-sized standard units; however, they consume 10–20% less energy. In fact, Energystar.gov reports that the energy saved by using Energy Star qualified dehumidifiers could power a refrigerator for up to six months!
In addition, these portable dehumidifiers use R-410A refrigerant, which does not deplete ozone.
The electronic soft-touch control panel allows you to easily adjust the settings of your Danby DDR45E. A convenient LED readout displays your room's relative humidity. When adjusting the humidity level, this readout will show the precise relative humidity setting (between 30% and 90%) that you indicate for the dehumidifier. Once the relative humidity is set, the dehumidifier's compressor will automatically cycle on and off to maintain your desired humidity level.
The Danby DDR45E also has a continuous operation mode. When this mode is selected, the dehumidifier will run continuously regardless of the room's relative humidity level.
Along the top of the control panel, indicator lights illuminate to show if the dehumidifier is if the water tank is full or if the dehumidifier is operating in defrost mode due to low temperature.

Normally do not write reviews....good or bad. But I have to comment on this Danby dehumidifier. I have gone through and been buying dehumidifiers for over 20 years. I did my research this time and by others writing reviews convinced me to try this product. I'm so glad I did. I Love the features and my finished basement area has never been drier. It's amazing and I like the fact that the fan in the unit runs constantly when on, even when it's not actually removing humidity from the air.
This circulates the air and keeps the area even drier. It's fairly quiet (for a dehumidifier) and has easy to use digital features. If this unit proves to have a longer life span than most dehumidifiers I have had in the past.(most malfunctioned after a year or so). The quality looks great and I high hopes it will last longer than most. Time will tell. If so, I will never buy any other brand other than Danby again. Here's hoping!

When my 3 year old Soleus died, my research pointed me to the Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier. I liked the humidity and temp digital readouts and the ease of use. The two issues I had were 1) the compressor and fan were too loud in the basement where we used it and 2) when removing the tank to be emptied, a stream of water ran down the back inside and down onto the bottom and table (about 1/2 pint).
The Danby did an excellent job of water removal, just couldn't adjust to the noise level and the water draining after the tank was removed and returned it.

Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
It arrive on time but with a small crack in the back. Which appeared to have been caused by the over tightening of a screw. Also the tank water level indicator was missing. I had already thrown away the box so i decided to use the dehumidifier as is. I'm not happy about this, but I need to use a dehum right away.

Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
Using in basement. It should have an automatic shutoff when it reaches the desired humidity like the 10 year old machine I left in my former home. I have to try two or three times to make the tank seat properly every time I empty it.

Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
Used near the basement back door, where I happen to watch TV. I have to turn it off when I'm watching TV, but leave it on the rest of the time. To turn off the fan (the noisiest part of the device) one has to turn off the dehumidifier entirely (which makes sense if you know how these things work). Seems to work effectively.
It's a little odd that it displays the temperature when you really can't raise or lower it. And it's placement, adjacent to the humidity control display, something you can adjust. Aside from that user interface observation, the dehumidifier works fine.

Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier came securely packed with no damage or missing parts. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. My favorite feature is the shut off timer. To date is has operated efficiently and has a "hum" that is easy to ignore during the day and provides an even sound at night that is easy to fall asleep to.

Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
The product is used in a finished basement. It works great for lowering the humidity. The only thing I dislike about the product is that the fan keeps running after the set humidity has been reached. I also own a different Danby where the fan shuts off when the set humidity is reached. The fan does shut off when the bucket is full of water. I haven't used the timer feature.
Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
I've had our new Danby DDR45E dehumidifier about a week now. It is much quieter than our old dehumidifier (different brand) that recently wore out its compressor. The quiet is important because we operate it at night right outside our bedroom. I'm so glad to have a well-functioning dehumidifier again, because several years ago we had mildew in our lower level and what a huge job to get rid of it, ugh. Since then I've been religious about measuring relative humidity in our home and keeping it within a safe zone. I like the Danby's electronic settings and readings; they're very clear and simple. The choice between collecting water in the tank or letting it drain out the hose is perfect for us as well. Right now, since summer has become quite humid where we live, I am watching (with the great feature of the strip of window into the tank!) how quickly it's collecting water and enjoying the satisfying sensations of pulling out the tank, picking it up by its convenient handle, and emptying it into the nearby bathroom tub. If I let it sit a couple minutes after turning it off, there's no problem with spilling water on the floor. In a couple weeks we'll be away on vacation and then I plan to simply put the Danby into the tub and set it up with the hose so that no one needs to come in and maintain it for us while we're gone. The only puzzling thing is that the Danby's built-in hygrometer reads a very different number than the one on the wall a few feet away, and I'm not sure which is more accurate.
Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
The noise level is no more than a large fan. Operation is easy.
Kudos to Sylvane.
Comments about Danby DDR45E Dehumidifier:
the Danby 45 pint was very easy to set up. Drain hose was plenty long enough.
