The Danby DDR5009REE Dehumidifier is an ideal solution for removing excess moisture—up to 50 pints each day—from spaces sized up to 3,000 square feet and restoring comfortable, healthy humidity levels those spaces. Recently chosen as a recommended model by a leading consumer reporting magazine, this Danby dehumidifier offers a variety of features designed to make dehumidifying your basement or other medium-sized area simple, energy efficient, and effective. The DDR5009REE dehumidifier includes multiple drainage options, programmable humidity settings, low-temperature operation, environmentally-friendly enhancements, automatic defrost, and more.
Saving energy isn’t just good for the environment. It’s also good for your wallet. Part of the Danby Premiere line of residential dehumidifiers, the DDR5009REE uses eco-friendly R-410A refrigerant, which is non-ozone depleting. A 24-hour programmable timer allows you to set the dehumidifier to turn off at a specified time. This feature is convenient plus it helps users stay on top of their energy consumption.
Thanks to these energy-focused features and more, this Danby 50-pint dehumidifier is an Energy Star-qualified appliance. This means that it uses 10 to 20% less energy than conventional non-Energy Star models. Energy Star-rated dehumidifiers also have more efficient coils, compressors, and fans—all of which contribute to long-term energy- and cost-savings.
The Danby DDR5009REE Dehumidifier features two drainage options for collected moisture. The first option allows you to manually drain the system by emptying the water collection bucket on the front of the dehumidifier. As a second method, you can gravity drain the moisture and deposit it into a nearby drain using the included drain hose and the drain port on the back of the system. As a third option, you can configure this Danby 50-pint dehumidifier to pump collected moisture to another location or even upward through a window by using the condensate pump accessory (sold separately).
Maintaining your ideal humidity level is easier than ever with this Danby portable dehumidifier. To set the humidity, simply toggle the up/down arrow buttons on the system's electronic control panel to your desired percentage. The dehumidifier allows you to adjust humidity from 30% to 90% in 5% increments. Once the humidity level is defined, the unit's compressor cycles on and off to maintain the setting automatically. The control panel always displays the ambient humidity level and temperature to help you stay on top of operation. Two fan speeds also help effectively distribute dehumidified air throughout your indoor environment.

I purchsed the product as a replacement. We have an unfinished block wall basement which gets very damp in the summer. The previous unit ran constantly and not very efficient. The Danby dehumidifier is great. The unit is attractive, streamline and could be used anywhere. Shipping was super, from GA. to PA. in two days. The unit was packed very well for shipment and ready to use out of the box. Setup of the unit was simple, remove from shipping carton, remove the protective tape (used for shipping) from the unit, put the batteries in the remote, plug the unit into a wall outlet, set the desired humidity level, place the enclosed hose in to a floor drain and that is it. If you do not have a floor drain there is a self contained reservoir which has an automatic shutoff when the container is full. The Danby has the energy saving feature, operates quietly. When I first installed the unit the humidity in the basement was 77%. I set the unit at 55% humidity and within one day the humidity was at the desired level. Another feature of the unit is after you set the unit for the desired humidity level after 5 seconds it desplays the actual humidity level in the room, so at all times you can see what the actual humidity level is in the room. This model dehumidifier can remove 50 pints of moisture in a twenty four hour period. The basement in which I have placed the unit is approx. 30' x 40' with 8' ceiling. This is a midsize unit and can handle the average room quite easily. Danby also sells a larger unit and also one which is for smaller spaces. Whatever the need I believe Danby has a dehumidifier for most applications and the service from Sylvane is exceptional. I am well pleased with my purchse and believe I received an excellent product for the price.

Comments about Danby DDR5009REE Dehumidifier:
I bought this humidifier for the basement to replace an old one. Set it up, and it didn't
work from the start. Not one drop of water collected. The return was very simple.

Comments about Danby DDR5009REE Dehumidifier:
The empty indicator lights don't always come on and it doesn't always automatically turn off. I'll finally notice that it hasn't gurgled in a while and that it's been running for a long time, so I'll check it and sure enough the tanks are empty.
It keeps main part of house humidified well and the area is about 1450 sq. ft.

Comments about Danby DDR5009REE Dehumidifier:
Your unit is excellent with one notable exception: the condensate tank is a bit awkward to remove and dump and reinstall. I own a dehumidifier, made by a competitior, whose condensate tank ops are much better.

Comments about Danby DDR5009REE Dehumidifier:
I used this in my classroom to lower the humidity, which during the months of August until November were in the 70% ranges. This little machine did it's job amazingly! I could have not asked for anything better. I recommended it to all the teachers with the same issues. The shipping was also fast. It arrived very quickly and worked straight out the box. No hassle, no problems.

Comments about Danby DDR5009REE Dehumidifier:
The unit functions very well in reducing humidity and is very easy to use.
However, the motor is getting louder over time. I cannot imagine it would be
worth the money to ship it back for repairs. The unit is about 6 months old and I use it about every 3 days.
