Take control of your humid air and experience true indoor comfort when you use the Danby Premiere DDR6009REE Dehumidifier. Recently ranked a "Best Buy" by a leading consumer reporting magazine, this Energy Star-qualified residential dehumidifier removes 60 pints of moisture per day from spaces as large as 3,600 square feet. The system is the perfect solution for medium-sized basements that may be susceptible to mold and dust mite problems because of high moisture content in the air. The DDR6009REE can also be used in any other area of your home or workspace that needs humidity control.
Maintaining your ideal humidity level is easier than ever with this Danby portable dehumidifier. To set the humidity, simply toggle the up/down arrow buttons on the system's electronic control panel to your desired percentage. The dehumidifier allows you to adjust humidity from 30% to 90% in 5% increments. Once the humidity level is defined, the unit's compressor cycles on and off to maintain the setting automatically. The control panel always displays the ambient humidity level and temperature to help you stay on top of operation. Additionally, you can program operation using the 24-hour timer.
The Danby DDR6009REE Dehumidifier features two drainage options for collected moisture. The first option allows you to manually drain the system by emptying the water collection bucket on the front of the dehumidifier. As a second method, you can gravity drain the moisture and deposit it into a nearby drain using the included drain hose and the drain port on the back of the system. As a third option, you can set up the Danby DDR6009REE to pump collected moisture to another location or even upward through a window by using the condensate pump accessory (sold separately).
Along with maintaining a comfortable humidity level in your indoor environment, this Danby dehumidifier helps protect the outdoor environment. As an updated feature, the DDR6009REE unit uses R-410A refrigerant, an efficient and eco-friendly refrigerant that will not contribute to ozone depletion. The DDR6009REE Danby dehumidifier is also Energy Star-rated. This means the system uses 10 to 20% less energy than conventional non-Energy Star models to remove the same amount of moisture. Energy Star dehumidifiers also have more efficient coils, compressors, and fans—all of which contribute to long-term energy- and cost-savings. Other features such as automatic sensing humidity control, a 24-hour programmable timer, and dual fan speeds help the system conserve energy further while still providing powerful dehumidification.

Wow, am I impressed, I have never owned a dehumidifier before, so I have had no experience with other brands. This Danby DDR6009REE was purchased for use in our Sierra Mountain vacation home. The house sits on the downward slope on the side of a mountain. The rain and snow drain towards the front of the foundation. There are ample drains available for the rain, but the snow melts slowly and it absorbs into the ground rather than running to the drains. Then water is then absorbed through the concrete foundation and makes the red dirt floor in the basement wet, and it stays wet through the winter and dries out some in the some summer months, but never completely.
So I did a little research online and this one seemed to be the best machine available for the money. I ordered it quite easily online from Sylvane.com. It arrived in about the time frame I expected to deliver, and arrived in good shape. I plugged it in and set up the programming and was I astonished at the amount of water it pulled from the air, and it seemed to do it job ever so quickly. I don't think the fan noise it too load at all. But the best part about the unit, that hasn't been mentioned in other's reviews, is you can use a standard garden hose replacing the one it comes with if you need a longer hose to drain to the outside. I thought I was going to have to go the hardware store and fashion some kind of hook up or extension hose to get the drain hose to reach the outdoors for continuous drain.

After reading lot of reviews from the web search, I have decided to purchase the Danby Dehumidifier Model DDR6009REE at Sylvane. I ordered on Friday and received on following Tuesday. I opened and installed it in my basement. There is a note saying the fan will be on all time whenever the power is on. This is not I expected. I though the fan will automatically turn on and off at the desired humidity level. Anyway, it is not important to me since it works much better than the one I have used from Sear. However, I have problem about the "Bucket Full" light. The "Bucket Full" light will illuminates after turn on about 2 to 3 minutes with no water in the water tank. I use continuous Drain Outlet. Read the manual, but missing page 4 and 5.for the operating instructions. Downloaded the manual from the Danby web site. Try to reseat the water tank but the "Bucket Full" light problem is not fixed and it will illuminates unexpected after power is on. Since I am using the continuous Drain Outlet, I decided to use the tape to force to turn off the safety switch. Afterward it works very well and quiet by comparing the one I have used for over 8 years from Sear. Anyway, it is too soon to tell how well it will work overtime. As of now, I have happy with the product,

Comments about Danby DDR6009REE Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier is used during winter in a 20x30 workshop building that has a wall mounted gas heater.
This dehumdifer runs continuously and helps minimize condensation on windows when the heater is working. It is quiet and the water pan is emptied once every 12 hours or when the unit is full, which ever comes first.
The water pan could use a better handle arrangment on the outside for withdrawing it from the unit. The side grooves can be slippery and if the pan is full, water can slop out if the pan tilts too much.

The unit has my basement humidity problems under control. It has auto shut off for the dehumidifier, but not the fan. I was told that this helps with the energy consumption. If so, I am happy.

It took just few days to get my 1500 square foot basement smelling fresh again. After running constant in the beginning I have turned it down and may be doing it again. I did some research on Dehumidifiers and this was in the top 3 list ...I would purchase another if ever needed.

Only one negative about this dehumidifier - a fan keeps running after the unit is off, so it's hard to figure out if it is off or not.

Comments about Danby DDR6009REE Dehumidifier:
I purchased this to replace another unit from a well known applicance manufactuer that some aspects failed less than 12 months after purchase. I use the unit in my basement, which is 24X26, and I have been very pleased with the performance, so far. I was a little concerned about the fan running all the time, but I have not noticed any real change in my electric bill. I set the unit for 55% humidity, and the unit has done a good job on maintaining this level. Only issue is one time, not too long after hooking up, the water filled the water pan instead of going into the sump hole where the hose hookup should send it. I readjusted the connections, and so far have not had a repeat performance. I have noticed when the coil de-icing is happening, and the fan kicks up to high, but does reurn to low when the cycle is finished. So far, I am quite pleased. I am hoping for the same results next year at this time.

Comments about Danby DDR6009REE Dehumidifier:
Bought a new home that had a damp basement. Fixed the leaks and got the Danby dehumidifier. Initially it filled the tank in a day, then went down to filling the tank every 3 or 4 days. The basement is now completely dry, no smell, and the dehumifier is off. Probably will need to go back on in the summer, but I am not worried about any high humidity this year.
