The dehumidifier is running constantly to fight to keep our humidity level in our basement at the recommended 50%. I have yet to find a cost-effective product to easily handle the moisture in our basement. I expect it to wear out before the extended warranty so I hope it was worth the extra money! I will say that it is working well to remove mold and mildew and damp/moldy smells in the basement. :)

Easy to set up and to use. Efficient and doesn't make much noise. After a couple of days in use, the new doors in the basement didn't "stick" anymore. Not much difference on the electric bill either.

I have a Media Room in my basement and then a half basement. I have had a dehumidifier in there since the house was built and it is not overly damp but will smell if not dehumidified. This unit had the damp smell gone in a day and a half. I liked the auto shutoff when you have reach the humidity level desired. Great unit for the price.

Old dehumidifier was blowing fuses and we needed something to dry out our basement. This machine is thirsty and keeps pulling the moisture out of the air. Glad to walk downstairs and have fresh, dry air.

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

This seems to be a quality crafted product. It's nice that the drain hose is included, as I have purchased other dehumidifiers which did not include one. The gravity drain feature works consistently. The fan is quiet on LOW speed, which is the setting it will be on most of the time. Another nice feature is the digital display shows the temperature as well as the humidity level.

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

I use the dehumidifier in a laundry room whose floor slopes down to a floor drain. Depending on which way the humidifier is facing, water can leak from its base. The floor is about 1.8 degrees from horizontal.(This happens when the bucket is in use; I don't know whether it would happen with the drain hose attached.)

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

Purchased it 7/2013 and never owned a Danby product before. I had owned 2 other brand name dehumidifiers and they both had issues, recalls, and or failed prematurely. I never heard of Danby until I started searching. They had the best warranty so I figured I would give them a try. I liked the styling, price, and overall functionality, and that I could order it online and have it delivered in 1-2 days. The only thing I don't really like is that the fan runs continuously, even when the compressor is not running. So it's not the best thing for occupied spaces. However, I run it downstairs in my workshop so it works out great as the fan keeps the air circulated; I think that might be why it runs all the time - it may be designed to keep a constant accurate sample of the air so the humidity can be regulated better to the set point. Oh, almost forgot ... I also liked the easy to hook up external drain/hose that you can route to a drain or sump pump, that is optional to use AND that the optional hose IS included with the dehumidifier.

We placed this in our basement to keep moisture down. Pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is compared to our previous dehumidifiers. The fan does run continuously, but for us that's OK as it keep the air moving and thus reduces the chance of mold/mildew forming. We've had this model for only a month, so I don't know about the durability. Therefore, I give it four stars - if it proves to be durable over time (and I think it will), then five stars would be appropriate.

We purchased this dehumidifier for our 1100 square foot finished basement, which, when we moved in 3 months ago, had a distinct musty smell. Seeing as it already clearly had moisture in the air, the fact that we have set up a 125 gallon fish tank down there was not going to make the problem any better. As soon as we plugged the Danby in, it got to work pulling water out of the air. We had to empty the water reservoir daily for the first week or so, because it was so efficient at dehumidifying the air. Now that the backlog of moisture in the basement has been reduced, we only have to empty it every 2-3 days (and it's pretty humid here in our area of Virginia). Bottom line: this Danby does what it says, and is quite effective; our basement no longer smells musty!
