The dehumidifier is running constantly to fight to keep our humidity level in our basement at the recommended 50%. I have yet to find a cost-effective product to easily handle the moisture in our basement. I expect it to wear out before the extended warranty so I hope it was worth the extra money! I will say that it is working well to remove mold and mildew and damp/moldy smells in the basement. :)

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

Has the best ratings of any brand combined with best consumer reviews. Works awesome in our large basement. We were without a dehumidifier for 3 weeks as our 2 year old Frigidaire stopped working properly. I have learned from ALL the review sites to ALWAYS buy an extended warranty on ANY dehumidifier. It paid off with the Frigidaire (which had good ratings even with Consumer Reports). Lowes gave me a full refund on that unit. Hope the better-rated Danby lasts longer. Super Seller!!! Great price! Received it in 2 days!

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

We use to have a dehumidifer in the basement that was not taking care of moisture like we had hoped, and then it stopped working completely. Our basement was so damp and smelly. My son and I started having allergy symptoms like cough and stuffiness. We bought the Danby and have been amazed by the results. We plugged the dehumidifier in and watched it do its job! Within two days it had our basement humidity down to normal, and our stuffiness and coughing has gone away. What a wonderful purchase!

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

This unit met and exceeded my expectations. It was able to dry out a very large and damp church basement in 2 days and then able to maintain a 45% humidity level - the setting I chose. I purchased 2 units and have one mounted on a wall stand and self draining through the supplied hose through a window. The other unit was placed on the floor and have self draining into a floor drain. The few people who had negative comments simply do not understand how dehumidifiers work. The "60 pint" designation refers to how much moisture (water) the unit can pull out of the air in a 24 hr. period, not the capacity of the holding tank. Those that are utilizing the holding tank to collect the condensate (water condensed out of the air) and complaining the tank fills up often - well that just shows how efficient this baby really is. Those complaining of increased temp. that's how a dehumid. functions - it takes in damp air and sends out the top dry warm air. If you have a need to cool the air as well I suggest you by an air conditioner. Lastly, it was a pleasure doing business with Sylvane. They offered a 2 day free express delivery and I found the units on my doorstep in 2 days as promised. They were also well protected. I've been using the units 2 months now with no complaints.

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

Having purchased and used another companies 30 pint dehumidifier that wasn't powerful enough, despite the first 60 pint Danby having a problem, it was returned and quickly replaced with a functioning unit. As a San Francisco Bay Area resident living right next to the Bay, I am able to extract 30-40 pints of humidity per day running it only a short time. It is quiet and powerful, but the only drawback is the power consumption that has doubled my electric bill witih only minimal use, a bi-produt of being efficient. I like it so much is that I am coinsidering purchasing another (possibly portable) air conditionar to extradct moisture without the increase in temperature.

I switched this out from a very noisy one so was pleasantly surprised at the quiet running motor. I didn't hook up the drain hose right away to make sure the unit was working and the fill bucket was full within a few hours. I have this in my basement laundry room and it is GREAT!

We are using this in our basement. Approx 900-1000 Sq ft unfinished. Turned it on and musty smell when we open the downstairs door was gone within a day or so. We only run it 5 hrs a day so the smell comes back faintly after a few hrs of being off. We purchased it with the suggested pump so we could tie it right into our washing machine drain. The controls aren't hard to figure out but definitely arent too intuitive either (though not 100% sure it has what I'm looking for). I can set the unit to turn off in 5 hrs after manually turning it on & setting the humidity level is easy (do not have independent gauge) but cannot/have not figured out how to have the machine go back on (again, not sure if it even has this feature). Instructions are extremely vague. Unit is compact & easy to move w/the casters. Have onlly had it for about 3 weeks so not sure yet on durability.

My Danby sits in my large unfinished basement dealing with seasonal humidity. This is the first time I have used a humidifier, purchasing it after moving to this town from a different climate. I couldn't be more pleased with the product. The "basement smell" that occurs during periods of high humidity here is completely gone. I cannot hear the Danby's fan upstairs at all. The 18" household fan I had initially tried before realizing that what I needed was a humidifier, used to be annoyingly audible especially at night while trying to sleep. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with this product.
