  • Product Overview

Newly redesigned, the Danby DDR30A2GP Dehumidifier eliminates humidity problems around your home that could lead to structural damage, allergy-triggering mold, and unpleasant musty odors. Extracting 30 pints of excess moisture per day, this model is designed to cover spaces measuring up to 2,000 square feet. Like previous Danby dehumidifiers, the Danby Premiere DDR30A2GP is packed with upgraded features to make operation easy and hassle-free, including automatic humidity control, 2 drainage options, 2 fan speeds, automatic defrost, and more.

Easy Automatic Humidity Control with Dual Drainage Options

Dehumidifying problematic spaces is easier than ever with the Danby 30-Pint Dehumidifier. Simply set your desired humidity level from 30% to 90%, adjusting it in 5% increments, and select from 1 of 2 fan speeds. We recommend setting your humidity between 45 and 50% to maintain a healthy, mold-free home. Both the dehumidifier's compressor and fan will run until your humidity setting is reached. Once it's reached, the compressor and fan shut off and run intermittently to maintain your desired humidity. Please note that the fan will shut off after a short 3 to 5 minute delay.

Choose from 2 drainage options when draining collected moisture. You can drain moisture manually by removing the slide-out water tank and emptying it in a sink or another location. Once water has filled the tank, a tank full indicator light illuminates red and the unit shuts off to let you know it’s time to empty. Alternatively, you can drain collected moisture via continuous gravity drain by connecting the included drain hose to the drain port on the side of the dehumidifier. This allows moisture to drain via gravity to a nearby drain or another location.

    User-Friendly Controls, Portable Design

The Danby DDR30A2GP Dehumidifier features a user-friendly electronic control panel and a portable design that allows you to move it freely throughout your home. Use the pushbutton controls to set your humidity, choose a fan speed, view your current humidity level, and program the 24-hour shutoff timer. Easy-to-see indicator lights also let you know when the dehumidifier tank is full or running in defrost mode. Plus, with built-in carrying handles on each side and 4 easy-roll casters, you can move the DDR30A2GP around your home for dehumidification wherever it’s needed.

    Additional Features

    • 24-Hour Shutoff Timer – Use the timer to program a shutoff time up to 24 hours in advance to conserve power.
    • Automatic Restart – Should a power failure occur, the DDR30A2GP will resume operating in the default factory setting of 60% humidity on the lowest fan speed once power returns for peace of mind.
    • Automatic Defrost – In temperatures below 41 degrees F, frost may build up on the evaporator coils. When this happens, the dehumidifier shuts off its compressor and enters defrost mode automatically to melt frost quickly and resume normal operation.
    • Washable Air Filter – A washable air filter helps remove dust and allergens from the air and helps keep the dehumidifier running efficiently.
    • Quiet Operation – At its highest fan speed, the Danby 30-Pint Dehumidifier has a noise level of 50 decibels, equivalent to sounds in an average home.
    • Environmentally Friendly Design – This model uses eco-friendly R-410A refrigerant, which does not deplete ozone. It’s also Energy Star-rated for more efficient, money-saving operation over comparable non-Energy Star dehumidifiers.

    Summary

Feature-rich and user-friendly, the Danby DDR30A2GP Dehumidifier removes 30 pints of damaging moisture per day from small areas around your home.

    What Customers Love

    • Low-Hassle Humidity Control – Simply set your desired humidity level and the dehumidifier maintains that level throughout your space by cycling the compressor on and off.
    • Energy Star Operation – Energy Star dehumidifiers like this model are built with more efficient refrigeration coils, compressors, and fans so they use less energy to dehumidify your space and keep your operating costs in check.

    Things to Consider

    • Need a Pump? – Consider adding a condensate pump if continuous gravity drainage or manual emptying isn’t realistic in your space.

I had a Kenmore for almost 20 years that did a great job, but could be heard from the basement to my bedroom overhead despite ample insulation.

Next I got a LG that was totally unreliable by the time I had had it for 8 months. So my desires were for a quiet, efficient and durable dehumidifier. I have had my Danby DDR30A2GP for three weeks, so it is much too soon to know about durability. However, it is quiet and effective.

I am in a different home now in the mountains out from Asheville, NC. My property is covered in trees, therefore it is very shady and we have had record rain this year, making it really damp inside my house before my unit arrived -- this Danby was backordered, but Consumer Reports had recommended it, so I wanted the best odds on good performance possible.

After the expense of the move, my budget would only allow me to purchase the 30 pint for the entire downstairs of 950 sq. ft. It keeps the humidity between 52-55 in the large living/ dining room in which it is located, and at a steady 60 in the bath which is furthest room from it. The guest bedroom and the exercise room are in between.

I am asking a lot of my Danby and it is delivering, as I have the central air thermostat located upstairs set for the heat to go on if the temperture goes below 66 degrees upstairs -- leaving the downstairs cooler.

I have read reviews that complained about water leaking from this model onto the floor if you aren't able to use the hose. I empty my unit twice daily at 7A & 7P and have not had an overflow problem despite how wet it has been. What I did find is that if you remove the bucket to empty it immediately after turning the unit off, by the time you return water that had been condensed, but had not yet reached the bucket, will drip onto the floor. I absorb that water each time after emptying the bucket with about 1/4th of a washcloth before reinserting the bucket -- no big deal.

If this Danby last for a number of years, I will be a completely satisfied customer and give it the fifth star.

We've owned it for several months now, although we have no need to run it in the winter. It performed very well last summer in lowering the humidity in our basement bedroom significantly even though the air temperature was only in the low- to mid-60s.

I use this in my 13' x 13' apt with an 8' loft to keep humidity levels below 50%. Until I get a tiny dryer I've been air drying my clothes and if I run this all night set at 30% the night of washing, I'm at 45% in the morning and my clothes are dry. With the fan on high and when the cooling element kicks in it can get a little loud next to my cot but with earplugs in it blocks the sound of freight trucks at 5 am! Super plus. Fan on low it's barely noticeable three feet from me if I tune it out. The air feels cleaner which may be the filter doing it's job. I also live in an area where it rains nearly constantly (southern coastal Alaska) and have never experienced this level of .. Air awesomeness. I will use the unit occasionally after I get a dryer because it creates a pleasant atmosphere and keeps my home mold free.
