  • Product Overview

The Danby DDR45A3GP Dehumidifier (formerly model DDR45A2GP) tackles your toughest humidity problems quickly and efficiently in areas as large as 2,500 square feet. Say goodbye to allergy-triggering mold and mildew, musty odors, and moisture damage in your basement, bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, kitchen, and more. This Danby Premiere model is loaded with features designed to make dehumidification easy and virtually automated, including automatic humidity control, automatic defrost, automatic restart, and a tank full indicator with automatic shutoff. Plus, Energy Star operation means the 45-pint DDR45A3GP operates 15% more efficiently than non-Energy Star dehumidifiers.

    Easy Controls, Mobile Design

The Danby DDR45A3GP Dehumidifier features a user-friendly electronic control panel and a portable design that allows you to move it freely throughout your home. Use the pushbutton controls to set your humidity, choose a fan speed, view your current humidity level, and program the 24-hour shutoff timer. Easy-to-see indicator lights also let you know when the dehumidifier tank is full or running in defrost mode. Plus, with built-in carrying handles on each side and 4 easy-roll casters, you can move the DDR45A3GP around your home for dehumidification wherever it’s needed.

Adjustable Humidistat with Automatic Humidity Control

Dehumidifying problematic spaces is easier than ever with the Danby 45-Pint Dehumidifier. Simply set your desired humidity level from 30% to 90%, adjusting it in 5% increments, and select from 1 of 2 fan speeds. We recommend setting your humidity between 45 and 50% to maintain a healthy, mold-free home. Both the dehumidifier's compressor and fan will run until your humidity setting is reached. Once it's reached, the compressor and fan shut off and run intermittently to maintain your desired humidity. Please note that the fan will shut off after a short 3 to 5 minute delay.

    Additional Features

    • Dual Drainage Options - Drain the dehumidifier manually by emptying the tank or attach the included drain hose to the drain port for continuous gravity drainage.
    • 24-Hour Shutoff Timer – Use the timer to program a shutoff time up to 24 hours in advance to conserve power.
    • Automatic Restart – Should a power failure occur, the DDR45A3GP will resume operating in the default factory setting of 60% humidity on the lowest fan speed once power returns for peace of mind.
    • Automatic Defrost – In temperatures below 41 degrees F, frost may build up on the evaporator coils. When this happens, the dehumidifier shuts off its compressor and enters defrost mode automatically to melt frost quickly and resume normal operation.
    • Washable Air Filter – A washable air filter helps remove dust and allergens from the air and helps keep the dehumidifier running efficiently.
    • Quiet Operation – At its highest fan speed, the Danby 45-Pint Dehumidifier has a noise level of 50 decibels, equivalent to sounds in an average home.
    • Environmentally Friendly Design – This model uses eco-friendly R-410A refrigerant, which does not deplete ozone. It’s also Energy Star-rated for more efficient, money-saving operation over comparable non-Energy Star dehumidifiers.

    Summary

Count on the Danby DDR45A3GP Dehumidifier to eliminate costly moisture damage, curb mold growth, and stave off musty odors in small- to medium-sized spaces throughout your home.

    What Customers Love

    • Hassle-Free Dehumidification – Simply set your desired humidity level and the dehumidifier maintains that level throughout your space by cycling the compressor on and off.
    • Energy Star-Compliant – Energy Star dehumidifiers like this model are built with more efficient refrigeration coils, compressors, and fans so they use less energy to dehumidify your space and keep your operating costs in check.

    Things to Consider

    • Need a Condensate Pump? – Consider adding a condensate pump if continuous gravity drainage or manual emptying isn’t realistic in your space.

I am very pleased with this device. I did a lot of research and decided on the Danby 45 since it seemed to have a quiet operation and for the small size of the device it had a large capacity. It is very effective on drying out my 2,000 square feet ranch (no basement)home. We did not have a huge humity problem, but my husband and I never agree on the temperature in our home. I want it warmer and he wants it cooler. So I decided this could help in making the air quality more comfortable during the summer since we live in the south. It has definitley helped the marriage. My only drawback is the noise. But I think no matter what any dehumidifier is going to be noisey. What actually is good about this one is the constant running fan. When the condenser comes one you do not notice it- plus I know it is constantly sampling the air for the humidy levels. So the device (though it is loud) is more like a fan white noise in the home. A recommendation for improvement would be a handle at the top of the device to move it around from one room to the next; there are hand holds on either side- it is just awkward so I tend to roll it.

Have used another brand of 40 pint dehumidifier in the past and really liked it until the motor got VERY noisy. This 45 pint machine is quiet and seems efficient but requires MANY more empties of the tank than the previous one and used in the same room and the same environment. I think the 45 pint capacity for this machine is misleading. The 40 pint tank I previously had was self-contained, easy to remove and empty and didn't have to be emptied (under most conditions) more than once every day or 2! I have to empty this tank at least 2-3 times a day. I've only had this machine for a few weeks but, so far, I'm satisfied with the machine....except for the frequent emptying.

Comments about Danby DDR45A3GP 45 Pint Dehumidifier:

I purchased this Danby dehumidifier for my partially finished basement (about 1200 sq ft). Even though it has not been warm enough in Michigan to require a dehumidifier yet, I have been running this on and off for about 3 weeks to test it out. So far, so good. Even though the basement has been dry with the heat on, the Danby has been removing moisture from the air. The controls are easy to use, and the bucket is easy to remove and empty (nice sturdy handle on the bucket). Also, the fan is much quieter than on my old dehumidifier. The service and shipping from Sylvane was very good. Overall, I am very pleased. The only reason that I gave the product 4 stars is that I have noticed that today's dehumidifiers only tend to last 2 years or so. We will see if this one stands the test of time.

Comments about Danby DDR45A3GP 45 Pint Dehumidifier:

I bought the Danby 70 pint dehumidifier for our home last year - it was large and very cumbersome to transfer from room to room so we decided to use it in our basement. The 70 pint unit has always worked great... our humidity levels are between 45-50% and our basement never has that musty smell anymore and we don't have a mold problem either. We love it so much, we decided to buy the Danby 45 pint unit for our upstairs. Even though it's smaller, it does the same great job. No mold, no musty smells and our whole home feels warmer too. The smaller unit is a lot easier to move around; however, it would be great if there was a handle on it so we're not bending over and leaning on the machine just to push it from room to room. It would be easy to install a handle on the back of the machine - something like on luggage where you can pull it up when you need it. Overall it's a fantastic machine - we've never had a problem with it and it's extremely easy to use.
