Purchased it 7/2013 and never owned a Danby product before. I had owned 2 other brand name dehumidifiers and they both had issues, recalls, and or failed prematurely. I never heard of Danby until I started searching. They had the best warranty so I figured I would give them a try. I liked the styling, price, and overall functionality, and that I could order it online and have it delivered in 1-2 days. The only thing I don't really like is that the fan runs continuously, even when the compressor is not running. So it's not the best thing for occupied spaces. However, I run it downstairs in my workshop so it works out great as the fan keeps the air circulated; I think that might be why it runs all the time - it may be designed to keep a constant accurate sample of the air so the humidity can be regulated better to the set point. Oh, almost forgot ... I also liked the easy to hook up external drain/hose that you can route to a drain or sump pump, that is optional to use AND that the optional hose IS included with the dehumidifier.

I bought this based on a positive review on another website to replace an extremely noisy whirlpool dehumidifier. Although this one is quieter, like a room air conditioner and has a useful digital temperature and humidity reading, emptying the bucket is extremely annoying. No outside handles or indentations to grab to pull it out of the dehumidifier. The shape inside is filled with ridges and I found gray streaked marks of mold inside when emptying the bucket. I tried cleaning it with bleach and my sponge couldn't reach all the corners and nitches especially under the float that does not rise up out of the way. My other bucket never had mold inside the plastic container. Although mechanically it works extremely well, product design is a failure.

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

I think I have the automatic controls based on humidity set. It is confusing to say the least. The machine does remove humidity and is better than some humidifiers on noise.
I use the unit in a large basement so I so it is not optimum usage but I can't afford two units.

bought this unit for our basement, very quite, only runs when needed, easy to use. The hose attachment is nice and or use of the bucket is good and easy to handle. Delivery was very timely and packaging was good.

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

The dehumidifier does a great job of removing moisture in or basement. It is fairly quiet allowing TV watching while running. The only drawback is that, as with any dehumidifier, it creates quite a bit of heat, although considerably less than my old unit.
Be careful pilling out the bucket when emptying as is may spill a bit but still a good design. use the drain if your setup allows.

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

I've always had a too moist basement but recently my basement was flooded with 20 inches of water. My last dehumidifier was destroyed in the flood and although it had done a pretty good job in the past, I knew that I needed a better one to handle what I am dealing with now. I run this one 8 hours a day and pull out a full bucket of water each day. This is keeping things manageable until I can afford to have further work done.

I use it to keep my basement dry. My basement is unfinished, has a concrete floor and cinder block walls, and is approximately 40'x40'. The dehumidifier works as designed, able to keep my basement dry.

The product works as advertised. I am pleased with it, but if I had the ability to change anything it would be to give it either a remote control or the ability to work for 4 hours and rest for 4 hours without having to turn it on again.
