  • Product Overview

From unhealthy mold to musty odors and damp spaces - excess humidity can wreak havoc on your home, leading to costly structural damage and an increase in your allergy symptoms. The Danby DDR60A2GP Dehumidifier eliminates these problems, removing 60 pints of moisture per day from large spaces measuring up to 3,600 square feet. Great for basements, living rooms, and bedrooms, the Danby Premiere DDR60A2GP is loaded with features that make dehumidifying your space easier than ever. Plus, it's Energy Star-rated for efficient, money-saving operation.

    Auto-Sensing Adjustable Humidistat

Dehumidifying problem areas is easier than ever with the Danby 60-Pint Dehumidifier. Simply set your desired humidity level from 30% to 90%, adjusting it in 5% increments, and select from 1 of 2 fan speeds. We recommend setting your humidity between 45 and 50% to maintain a healthy, mold-free home. Both the dehumidifier's compressor and fan will run until your humidity setting is reached. Once it's reached, the compressor and fan shut off and run intermittently to maintain your desired humidity. Please note that the fan will shut off after a short 3 to 5 minute delay.

    User-Friendly and Portable

The Danby DDR60A2GP Dehumidifier features a user-friendly electronic control panel and a portable design that allows you to move it freely throughout your home. Use the pushbutton controls to set your humidity, choose a fan speed, view your current humidity level, and program the 24-hour shutoff timer. Easy-to-see indicator lights also let you know when the dehumidifier tank is full or running in defrost mode. Plus, with built-in carrying handles on each side and 4 easy-roll casters, you can move the DDR60A2GP  around your home for humidity control wherever it’s needed.

    Additional Features

    • Dual Drainage Options - Drain the dehumidifier manually by emptying the tank or attach the included drain hose to the drain port for continuous gravity drainage.
    •
    • 24-Hour Shutoff Timer – Use the timer to program a shutoff time up to 24 hours in advance to conserve power.
    •
    • Automatic Restart – Should a power failure occur, the DDR60A2GP will resume operating in the default factory setting of 60% humidity on the lowest fan speed once power returns for peace of mind.
    •
    • Automatic Defrost – In temperatures below 41 degrees F, frost may build up on the evaporator coils. When this happens, the dehumidifier shuts off its compressor and enters defrost mode automatically to melt frost quickly and resume normal operation.
    •
    • Washable Air Filter – A washable air filter helps remove dust and allergens from the air and keeps the dehumidifier running efficiently.
    •
    • Quiet Operation – At its highest fan speed, the Danby 60-Pint Dehumidifier has a noise level of 55 decibels, equivalent to sounds in an average home.
    •
    • Environmentally Friendly Design – This model uses eco-friendly R-410A refrigerant, which does not deplete ozone. It’s also Energy Star-rated for more efficient, money-saving operation over comparable non-Energy Star dehumidifiers.

    Summary

With auto-sensing humidity control, dual drainage options, and user-friendly controls, the Danby DDR60A2GP Dehumidifier gets your home's humidity problems under control quickly in medium to large spaces.

    What Customers Love

    • Easy Dehumidifying – Simply set your desired humidity level and the dehumidifier maintains that level throughout your space by cycling the compressor on and off.
    • Efficient Operation – Energy Star dehumidifiers like this model are built with more efficient refrigeration coils, compressors, and fans so they use less energy to dehumidify your space and keep your operating costs in check.

    Things to Consider

    • Need a Pump? – Consider adding a condensate pump if continuous gravity drainage or manual emptying isn’t realistic in your space.

Purchased it 7/2013 and never owned a Danby product before. I had owned 2 other brand name dehumidifiers and they both had issues, recalls, and or failed prematurely. I never heard of Danby until I started searching. They had the best warranty so I figured I would give them a try. I liked the styling, price, and overall functionality, and that I could order it online and have it delivered in 1-2 days. The only thing I don't really like is that the fan runs continuously, even when the compressor is not running. So it's not the best thing for occupied spaces. However, I run it downstairs in my workshop so it works out great as the fan keeps the air circulated; I think that might be why it runs all the time - it may be designed to keep a constant accurate sample of the air so the humidity can be regulated better to the set point. Oh, almost forgot ... I also liked the easy to hook up external drain/hose that you can route to a drain or sump pump, that is optional to use AND that the optional hose IS included with the dehumidifier.

The dehumidifier is running constantly to fight to keep our humidity level in our basement at the recommended 50%. I have yet to find a cost-effective product to easily handle the moisture in our basement. I expect it to wear out before the extended warranty so I hope it was worth the extra money! I will say that it is working well to remove mold and mildew and damp/moldy smells in the basement. :)

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

The dehumidifier does a great job of removing moisture in or basement. It is fairly quiet allowing TV watching while running. The only drawback is that, as with any dehumidifier, it creates quite a bit of heat, although considerably less than my old unit.
Be careful pilling out the bucket when emptying as is may spill a bit but still a good design. use the drain if your setup allows.

I've always had a too moist basement but recently my basement was flooded with 20 inches of water. My last dehumidifier was destroyed in the flood and although it had done a pretty good job in the past, I knew that I needed a better one to handle what I am dealing with now. I run this one 8 hours a day and pull out a full bucket of water each day. This is keeping things manageable until I can afford to have further work done.

Comments about Danby DDR60A2GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier:

I purchased this unit about 6 weeks ago. The representative from Sylvane was pleasant, knowledgeably directed to me to the right unit for my situation, and offered a small discount when I asked if there were any promotions available.

This unit was very easy to set up and I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly it brought down (and has kept down!) the humidity level in my entire basement (about 1000 sf). The convenient drain hose, which allows the water to be expelled directly to the floor drain, is shorter (7 feet long) than I would have liked, but it saves having to continually empty the bucket. The unit runs continually, but the noise is not loud. Wish I had bought this brand 4 years ago! It runs continually when I am home and has eliminated the slight mustiness that was in my basement.

Very happy with it. Quieter, more compact, quicker than the humidifier it replaced (which I bought 12 years ago). Always surprised by how quickly the bucket fills up. Considering using the hose, but my wife likes to use the water for our plants. And it is gratifying to see the water.

This unit was highly rated on Consumer Reports website and it's lived up to that billing so far. I have not gotten an electric bill yet, so can't comment on energy efficiency. But it does a great job of dehumidifying the whole 1,000 SF lower level of our raised ranch house. Since it is naturally cooler down there, with the lowered humidity, we have not had to use the air conditioner downstairs. So we are saving energy that way.
