We just finished our 700 sq. ft basement and knew that we wanted a dehumidifier that was low maintenance. Our builder is the one who actually recommended this product to us. He told us that it is what he uses in his own house. We purchased the dehumidifier with the pump feature so we would not need to empty it EVER! It came with a 16' hose however we purchased a 50' hose from the hardware store so we could run it into our unfinished storage area and into our drainage location. We were worried that the unit might be too loud but the noise is kept to a minimum and has not been an issue for us. I feel comfortable operating the control panel and I recommend watching the video in addition to reading the direction manual. I found it to be very helpful. The dehumidifier is not overly bulky and does not take up a lot of room. We decided to put ours under the stairs so you do not even notice it. We have ours set to continuous dehumidifying mode and I feel very comfortable leaving for long periods of time. We have had other dehumidifiers that did not have a pump so we had to empty them on a regular basis. The only good thing about that is you can see the results. With the pump option I don't know how much water is being collected because it goes out the pump and into our drain. I have checked the hose and can see water has collected at the bottom so I know it is working. To date we have been pleased with our purchase, the quick delivery and the price we paid.

Good purchase. Would recommend even though I had expected some additional features. We received and have been using the DD45P for over a week and can say we're satisfied that it works well. First the positive. The unit works great at dehumidifying our basement. The pump system is easy to use and works great in our basement where we don't have a slop sink so it really saves us from having to carry away and dump the water. We just put the small hose our the cellar window ...very convenient.

The controls are easy to use once you read the directions of course. I was disappointed about a couple things that I misunderstood when reading the specs so I'll pass along. The ability to use a timer does not mean you can program it to turn on and off the same time each day. I had planned to just have it run at night. No can do. The timer allows you to set a one time delay to turn it on or your can set the timer to run for x hrs then turn itself off. You must set it each time. You can also program it to run until it reaches a desired humidity level, but it does not shut off completely when that happens, which I had assumed. The compressor turns off but the fan continues to run at low speed, to circulate air. The reason they gave when I called was that unit must keep running so it can restart the compressor (and dehumidifying) if the humidity goes back up.

The unit is a bit noisy but ok for basement use. Sounds like lots of negatives, but mostly because I was not familiar with standard dehumidifier specs. I searched around for others units that could be preset for a daily schedule and found none (as the tech advised). For the price, which I thought was very reasonable with the pump option, it is a good deal. Works like a champ and is keeping my basement humidity under control without me having to dump buckets of water.

Last, my call to the DeLonghi customer support was quickly answered and pleasantly and professionally handled. Good service. Glad I ordered it.

After researching numerous dehumidifiers for use in our basement, we decided to purchase the Delonghi DD45p dehumidifier based on price, asthetics, and its great features. Although this product is used in our basement, I would not hesitate to use it in any other room of our house as it looks like a piece of art. The unit was very easy to set up and within an hour reached our humidity setpoint in a 900 sq. ft. basement. The combination autodrain function and built in pump make condensate removal a breeze. We used the included drain hose and ran it right to our utility sink drain. The unit took care of the rest. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. It is a quality machine with great features not found elsewhere.

The dehumidifier was extremely easy to set up (10 minutes, including the self-pump drain line). The controls are simple and intuitive. The dehumidifier is quiet. It rolls easily. It has functioned flawlessly from the time I turned it on. I am extremely satisfied.

It is really convenient to have a pump dehumidifier that keeps you from constantly emptying the bowl. I used my last one almost 10 yrs before the pump went out. I gave it to a friend and they poked a hole in the bowl and ran a tube to a drain and is still using it. Great system

I had a Kenmore prior to purchasing a Delonghi 45 dehumidifier with pump. I was looking for a quality unit for a reasonable price. I was told to try a Delonghi brand. Sylvane.com seemed to have comparable prices, but what I liked most was the savings on the free shipping and handling Sylvane's had to offer. I purchased a unit and the product came the next day. I was very pleased with the quick delivery. Great service!
So far my husband and I have run the dehumidifier all day and night. We purchased the unit with the pump, which makes it convenient. It seems to run well, but very loud. The fan is what I think makes it sound loud. Also, the room tends to get colder when the dehumidifier runs. I know there is a temperature gauge on the unit, however, the unit even at the highest temperature blows out cool air through the top vents. The unit is downstairs in our basement and the room is not very big. It has been very damp and rainy for the past week or so and the damp smell is still present. I will be giving the dehumidifier some time before deciding if I will be keeping it. However, if the smell does not clear up, I will be sending it back. Other dehumidifiers we have had in the past, before they broke, resolved any damp smell we get in our basement.
