I bought two Dehumifiers WITH pumps two months ago here at Sylvane.

Danby DDR60A3GP 60 Pint Dehumidifier with Pump
DeLonghi DD70PE Dehumidifier with Pump

The Danby was put in the 100 year-old house cellar where the humidifier often peaks at 90% and within several hours the humidity was down to 60% and the miserable mustiness was gone. Very impressive performance. It was extremely simple to set up. The water is pumped into a slop sink.

The DeLonghi arrived a couple weeks later and that was put on the main floor. The hose winds behind a bookcase through a hole in the floor and drains into the same slop sink below. I did not need the pump for that but spent a little more to have that option just in case I want to move the machine later. This machine is also efficient and brought humidity levels to the comfort zone even in this usually extremely humid climate in PA. Before using this, the wall a/c temp had to be turned down so low it was clammy and cold and still not comfortable.

Design-wise both machines are thoughtfully done. I DO prefer the Danby because the hose exits from the back and if you do use the water collector it seems to pull out a little easier. Happy with both. Yes they create heat and yes they make some noise, but both are functions of a dehumidifier. Hope these last for years of use ahead.

Before ordering I checked everywhere. Sylvane's sale price was competitive, the free shipping and extremely FAST delivery was superb. Customer service on the phone was helpful AND knowledgeable. Great emails and follow-up and the order process was simple and flawless. Wonderful experience with this company both times. Highly recommend them! (This would be rated at 5 Star except I don't know how reliable it will be in the long term.)

I put this in my basement to keep the smell and moisture down. Had an LG product before but only lasted 1 year. Hope this lasts longer. It removes the moisture from the air but for $100 more than the LG models I assumed it had a shutoff switch once it hit the desired humidity level (set mine to 50). It runs even when the air is at 45. I can deal with the noise, for now. But still looking for the something better.

Comments about DeLonghi DD70PE Dehumidifier with Pump:

If I had known it had a constant fan then I would not have ordered it. It wasn't clear from the description. The fan noise may not be the worst (I haven't had anything to compare to). The problem with constant fan is that you can't "set it and forget it" since the constant fan noise will drive you crazy. You have to keep turning it on and off. They might as well not even have a humidity control setting.

Comments about DeLonghi DD70PE Dehumidifier with Pump:

After countless emails and phone calls, DeLonghi finally came through on the warranty. They replaced my unit with a new one. The pump is running and the unit seems to be performing well overall. While I am pleased with the unit, I cannot recommend buying with DeLonghi, given how difficult it was to get them to honor the warranty.

Comments about DeLonghi DD70PE Dehumidifier with Pump:

I set up the unit in my basement and it worked well for the first few months. After not being used over the winter, the pump failed. Troubleshooting guide and Delonghi staff unable to help.

If you don't need a reliable pump, this unit would be an acceptable choice. But you can pay far less for such a unit.

Comments about DeLonghi DD70PE Dehumidifier with Pump:

The dehumidifier works great, but I was surprised to see that the timer is a delay timer only. Meaning that you cannot schedule when the unit comes on/off like you would your thermostat. Once running, you can set the delay time to shut-off, but you have to do that every time you turn the unit on. Similarly, once off, you can set the delay time to turn-on, but you have to do that every time. It would be nice to be able to truly schedule when the unit turns on/off on a daily basis. This is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Love the automatic pump feature so I don't need to manually empty the tank. But that was also a bit of a surprise when I wanted to connect this to a sink drain. The hose used for the pump is a 5/16th clear plastic hose similar to aquarium hose or the hose used to tie in your ice maker for your fridge. I had to buy a bunch of fittings just to get the hose to properly tie into the sink drain. Not impossible, but it was a challenge.

My ONLY complaint was that it heated the room to 95 degrees (from 70)---but perhaps all dehumidifiers do that..I don't know...it certainly removed the humidity though .

Comments about DeLonghi DD70PE Dehumidifier with Pump:

I saw this dehumidifier highly recommended on line. Our old Sears had stopped working and the basement had a musty smell and high humidity. I bought this and set it up in 5 minutes. One day later the humidity was 55% and the musty smell was gone. This is more costly than other dehumidifiers, but it works perfectly and does the job. I hope it lasts a few years. Get one. You won't be sorry.
