I have had this unit for 2 years now. The first year, it worked perfect; the second year, it started to leak. I read the reviews and it seems to be a common problem. The manual is no help in how to remedy the problem. I searched through the internet to find how to fix this problem. I finally found a person on the internet who knew what they were speaking of; I took off the panel on the right side of the unit (back view) and there is a small hole where the water should be running into. You must put a small wire down that hole to remove any obstructions, then pour bleach through it.
Also, I never cleaned the filter because there was never any dirt on the filter, but when I took off the panel there is a filter on the unit that was collecting all the dust. I vacummed that part of the unit, reassembled the panels, started up the unit and no more leaks -- and that has been 3 weeks ago. The unit sometimes takes a long time to cool off the room on very hot days, but I realized it is best not to turn off the unit when it is extremely hot, thinking the unit needs to rest from working through the night. It needs to stay on to keep the room comfortable and I also have a ceiling fan to assist with air circulation.

When we first got this unit we were amazed at how it was convienant and cool. I learned the hard way. The unit released so much water during the night that it soaked my carpet so bad. The damage was at leased five feet long and three feet wide. It damaged my living room ceiling as well. As I am googling right now how I can save my smelly warped carpet I came across write a review. DO NOT BUY this unit. It will fool you but long and behold it will leak and ruin what ever its under. I am disgusted by the smell of white vinegar and baking soda trying to clean my carpet that I can not afford to change. This unit was enough money not to do this. Please invest in another unit. Save yourself the scrubbing and construction ahead of time.

This unit is good for basic cooling needs. The hand book is terrible! I own the Delonghi PAC A120 LE (ECO). Some of the things the book does not explain is how to clear a clogged drain hole, how to clean the sides of the unit as they become clogged with dust, animal hair, etc, and how to properly hook a drain hose to the back of the unit so it will drain correctly.
The first year my unit worked great, but it needs regular maintenance if you want it to still run. I would say every couple months take off both side panels and use a vacuum to clean it out. Also take the pull out filter off the back and clean that as well. Make sure and hook a small drain hose to the back so it can properly drain. My unit began leaking and then forced me to take a closer look. When this happen I took the side panel off. If your looking at the back of the unit it will be on the right side panel. Take the 6 screws our then slide the panel down and it should come off. Once off look at the white tray and it should be totally filled with water if you were having the leaking problem. Get a small wire and insert it slightly into the hole. Once this is done hopefully the water will drain. (Mine did). Then get a pipe cleaner and stick it slightly in the hole to get any loose particulates out. A review I read on here then said to cycle bleach through it but I did not want to do this. After I cleaned the hole out it worked fine.

I use this air conditioner as a back-up for my central cooling system. It also is used with an emergency generator unit in case of power outages. It is easy and fast to hook up in any room.It stores compactly with its own dust cover.

We hired a contractor to install the vent through a brick wall - like a dryer vent. Its perfect as there is a vent cover included for winter time. Our windows are not double hung so no unit can be used with our windows without a direct vent through the exterior wall. There should be some kind of warning or advice listed so customers know this.

Nowhere in the manual does it say to periodically empty the machine. An error message is suppose to come on to tell you to empty an internal tank. Where did it say it had an internal tank? Carpet's ruined, room smells moldy. Buy a washer drip pan for underneath in case your message doesnt come on, save your room.

WE HAVE TWO UNITS NOW, ONE INTHE BACK OF THE HOUSE AND ONE IN THE FRONT. THIS GIVES GOOD CONTROL THROUGH OUT THE HOUSE. No central air system needed with that expense either!!

I got good use of product for about two years then the leaks began-all over my oak floors in my office. I had it repaired only to have it begin leaking again the next year. I see this is a common problem. 'This unit needs to be dropped as it is poorly desingned.

The first year we used this on our boat it worked great, just as was advertised.
The second year we had water every where. After reading some reviews on this site and some sollutions I did what any man would do, I took the dam thing apart. After removing all of the shell, I found there was a small reservoir on top that should drain into the lower reservoir. As the top on gets clogged it overflows all over.
Just clean the hole out and you are set. I also had to put a drain line on the lower one because it still leaked. Now that I know what I have to do it is easy. This thing realy does a great job of cooling down a 37' Boat.
