How It Works
The Pinguino A-120E provides 12,000 BTUs of cooling power for air conditioning medium to larger-sized rooms. This unit is manufactured with a high efficiency compressor and components to quietly and powerfully cool your space. While keeping the air cool and comfortable, the unit will also naturally dehumidify the air -- keeping your environment both cool and dry. DeLonghi's patented no-drip technology removes condensation without the need for a water bucket, the ultimate in convenient operation.
You may also choose to run this unit in Dehumidify only mode to control excess room humidity. Under normal conditions, this unit is "dripless," meaning that the unit will discharge all of the moisture collected from the air through the exhaust. However, when extracting large volumes of water in the Dehumidifier mode, excess water will be collected in the internal collection tank. The air conditioner will automatically turn off once the tank is full, until emptied. You may also use the continuous drain hose included as a no-fuss way to eliminate excess water as needed.

We have a bonus room above our garage that is used as a bedroom for two of our children. It is typically warmer up there in the hot months, and with record temperatures this year, we knew it was time to get a supplemental A/C unit. Our home is a newer home built in a classic style and I wasn’t too thrilled about the idea of an unsightly window unit sticking out in a prominent place. After researching options online, I came upon the Delonghi brand of portable air conditioners and particularly the PAC A120E model.
Some of my research indicated that portable units were not the best performers at cooling an entire room. I was a little apprehensive of this, especially given the price premium over typical window units, but felt that Delonghi was a trusted brand and the 12,000 BTU rating of the A120E would be enough for the need. I took the plunge, ordered one, and received it just a few days later. The setup and connection to the outside window was as easy as opening and closing the window on the included window bracket, attaching the hose to the unit, and plugging it in. I didn’t even have to remove the window screen. I purchased some inexpensive foam strips to help seal the window bracket. From the outside, you can hardly tell that anything is different.
We have been so pleased with this unit! We keep the fan speed on the lowest setting and it does a great job cooling the room. I have monitored to see if any moisture drips or collects around the unit, but it has stayed completely dry. All of the moisture is sent out the hose through the window and vaporized. The children typically use the “sleep function” at night, which maintains the temperature and humidity while keeping the fan speed low. It gradually shuts down over the course of the night so it doesn’t disturb their sleep.
It has literally been a turnkey appliance that has met the need admirably well. I would highly recommend it as a supplemental unit for rooms like ours that require extra cooling.
