The Evolution is the best portable unit I have ever used. The 5 amp draw means noticeably less heat than other comparable units, which you will appreciate immediately when having to be in same room with it. I know the energy savings consuming only 5 amps adds up quickly too, making the few hundred dollars more this model costs pay for itself long before it needs replacing. I also found it provided moisture removal at rate faster than any of my "other" portables that consumed less than 9 amps.

The Evolution is quieter than I expected, actually quieter than most of the "plastic box" dehumidifiers I have had the displeasure to see working..LOL! As a testiment to their durability, DRI EAZ is used by more rental stores and restoration experts than any other brand. If you want a portable under 100 lbs, I don't think you'll find one that works or is built better than the Evolution, and I have tried or seen nearly every pro brand.I don't mean to sound like an ad, but I make my living using these things and I feel a company that provides excellent products deserves accolades.

I installed hanging racks in my garage and started cleaning and drying area rugs (Persian, Oriental, or Indian type usually) as an additional service. This dehumidifier worked excellently the first time I used it.

What is the ideal humidity level this unit should maintain?

We recommend you maintain a humidity level of between 45 and 50 percent. Too much humidity creates an ideal environment for mold, dust mites, bacteria, and pests to thrive. Too little humidity can be just as damaging by causing health issues such as an increase in colds and the flu and irritated skin and respiratory passages. Should a dehumidifier be setup as close to floor level as possible or will they work the same if raised a few feet up off the ground?

Dehumidifiers can be either situated on a floor level or raised without affecting operation. When raised a few feet, the dehumidifier will benefit from improved gravity drainage.

The manufacturer recommends gauging the temperature and humidity of your space in the center of the room, away from the airflow created by the machine's fan. For best operation, the room should be closed off to air circulation from outside, with foot traffic kept to a minimum. The optimum temperature for drying the room is from 68 to 85°F.
