Comments about Dyson DC44 Animal Cordless Vacuum:

First off, I want to say I am writing this from the perspective of somebody living in a small one room apartment.

Upon moving into this apartment, I realized out of necessity, that I needed a smaller vacuum. I just did not have the storage space to keep my old canister vacuum. After doing some research, I found that the problem with a lot of small, compact vacuums was that battery life was only about 20 minutes max. Well for me, this wouldn't be a problem, because with such a small space it only takes about 6-8 minutes to go through and clean the whole place.

After using this vacuum, I now have to say that it is absolutely perfect for what I needed. It had great suction, picked up everything on my carpet and transitioned right into picking up everything on my hard floors without a hitch. After vacuuming the whole apartment, I still had plenty of battery life left, so I used the brush and crevice tools to finish off the corners and edges of my furniture.

I would highly recommend this vacuum for anybody that lives in a small space but still has a lot to clean.

Comments about Dyson DC44 Animal Cordless Vacuum:

My husband and I love this vacuum! We live in an industrial-style loft with mostly hardwood floors, and this Dyson fits our needs perfectly. The vacuum is easy to store (our loft doesn't have a lot of storage space!) and has the batter power to clean our entire loft.

We use this vacuum a lot in the kitchen to clean up crumbs and dirt. The flexible head moves easily around our kitchen island to clean up a quick mess and maneuvers into all the corners of our kitchen for thorough cleaning. This vacuum also fits easily under our furniture, chairs and tables to eliminate dust bunnies, dirt and sand that my husband and I track into the house. For a quick cleanup in a smaller space, this is an ideal vacuum.

The only drawback to this vacuum is that it is trigger-powered. While I didn't even notice, my husband said he didn't like having to hold down the trigger the entire time he was vacuuming.

Dyson DC44 vs. Wet Paper Towel, Fight!

Cons

Comments about Dyson DC44 Animal Cordless Vacuum:

Great vacuum for what it is built for... and that is the key. This vacuum is designed for short usage (8 - 20 minutes of vacuuming) and for easy convenient spot cleaning. It is great at that.

My quest begins several years ago.. My holy grail is making it easy to pickup food particles and general crud around my kitchen on a nightly basis. I started out wiping the floor around the table with a damp paper towel.. I bought a Rumba robotic vacuum. It was cool but it broke down after a couple of months. I went back to using a wet paper towel to wipe up crumbs and stuff. Then I bought a different cordless vacuum... it didn't have enough suction so I went back to using a wet paper towel... then I bought a corded but small profile vacuum.. had the suction.. but still found it easier to just use the wet paper towel then have to deal with a long cord for a quick cleanup. Finally, tried the Dyson. Easy to use? check. No cord. Can be wall mounted so easy to get to. Enough suction? Check. Problem solved and wet paper towel in the garbage.

Negatives? I find that on "regular" mode it doesn't have a lot of punch.. so sometimes it doesn't pickup a particle that I swear I went over.. so I use "max" mode which is very good. But you only have 8 minutes at maximum.. so really, it is excellent for around the kitchen cleanup after a long day of 3 kids destroying your house. Not so great if you need to vacuum an entire home.

Goodbye paper towel. You will not be missed.
