  • Product Overview

The Ebac DD200 Desiccant Dehumidifier is the smallest desiccant dehumidifier within the Ebac DD Series of desiccant dehumidifiers. It’s compact, rugged, and lightweight design facilitates easy transport by one person and is easily accommodated within space restricted areas. The Ebac DD200 incorporates a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) Heater to ensure that maximum drying is immediately reached and constantly maintained while the unit is running. This unit is ideal for extremely low-temperature drying in industrial, commercial, and heavy residential applications.

    How Desiccant Dehumidifiers Work

The Ebac DD200 Dehumidifier performs exceptionally well when used in cooler climates, or when a low dew point, deep drying, or low humidity levels are required. Since desiccant dehumidifiers do not produce water, they will dry effectively in sub-zero temperatures. The DD200 removes moisture in temperatures as low as -4 degrees F.

    Desiccant Dehumidification

This Ebac desiccant dehumidifier dries the air using a special desiccant wheel. During operation, a large volume of air - the "process" air - passes through a silica gel rotor that rotates slowly and continuously. Silica gel is a hygroscopic material that absorbs moisture direct from the air. As the air passes through the rotor, the humidity of the air is reduced, while the moisture content of the rotor is increased. This is how the Ebac DD200 dehumidifies the air.

Next, a smaller volume of air - the "reactivation" air - is heated by an internal heater and passed through a portion of the rotor in the opposite direction. As the reactivation air moves through the rotor, it will “reactivate” it by removing the moisture content from the silica gel material. The reactivation air will then leave the dehumidifier as warm, moist air and must be vented to outside of the building. This is how moisture is removed from the dehumidifier.

As the desiccant dehumidification process continues, room air circulates and the overall relative humidity is reduced.

    Moisture Removal Capacity

The Ebac DD200 Desiccant Dehumidifier removes different amounts of moisture depending on the ambient temperature and relative humidity in the space. Refer to the chart and graph below to get an idea of the amount of moisture removed based on your space's specific conditions. In AHAM testing conditions, which are 80 degrees F and 60% relative humidity, you can expect the DD200 to extract nearly 40 pints of moisture per day.
