The Essick Air N28W Window Evaporative Cooler is an environmentally conscious and economical way to cool your home. Unlike refrigerant air conditioners, which use ozone-depleting chemicals like Freon to cool your home, this evaporative cooler uses the natural process of water evaporation to lower temperatures by up to 30 degrees. This fully assembled evaporative cooler includes an installation kit and filler panels.
Most effective in dry climates, the Essick Air N28W Evaporative Swamp Cooler pulls in 2,800 cubic feet of air per minute and is ideal for areas between 400 and 600 square feet. Key features of this air cooler include two fan speeds, a convenient manual knob, and built-in leveling legs. Additionally, this window evaporative cooler is equipped with the following benefits:

Essick swamp coolers use a similar method to the natural cooling effect that occurs when you step out of a swimming pool on a hot day. In hot temperatures water evaporates from your body and takes the heat with it, leaving you with a cool, refreshing feeling. In a similar manner, water evaporates from damp pads inside the evaporative cooler and takes heat from the hot air in your space with it.
Every minute, a powerful blower draws 2,800 cubic feet of air into the Essick Air N28W swamp cooler through the side vents. The hot, dry air is then brought into contact with two water-saturated pads made from Aspen trees. When the moving air passes through the moist pads, evaporation occurs as the heat from the hot air causes the water molecules to transform into a gas. As the water evaporates from the pads, the gas molecules and heat switch from the higher air temperature to a lower water temperature. The actual temperature instantly drops up to 30 degrees and fresh, cool air is released back into your space through the front air grille.
While traditional air conditioning systems recirculate the same stale air, the Essick Air N28W constantly pushes heat out and dispenses maximum fresh, cool air throughout your space every two to three minutes. In addition, the moist pads act as air filters, driving out dust, pollen, smoke, and odors, providing nonstop relief to allergy-sufferers. In the interior of the swamp cooler, a water pump connects to a delivery tube that constantly moistens the evaporative cooling pads. This is done so that the pads remain damp to continue the evaporative cooling process.
By providing a continual supply of fresh air throughout your home, the Essick Air N28W Swamp Cooler also lowers the effective temperature. This consistent flow of cool air causes a cooling effect by which the constant cool breeze feels 4 to 6 degrees lower than the actual temperature.
In dry, arid climates, evaporative cooling is a more efficient and less expensive solution to cooling your indoor air. When compared to air conditioners, swamp coolers cost less to operate and install.
Operation Costs
Evaporative coolers not only have a significantly lower purchase price than traditional air conditioning systems, they also help you save on electricity bills. Because the Essick N28W uses mainly water and air to cool your home, this energy-efficient window air cooler consumes less power. Operating expenses are typically 75% less than that of refrigerant air conditioners. Essick swamp coolers are powered by plugs and use 115 volts of electricity.
Installation Costs
Swamp coolers also usually cost 50% to 80% less to install than central air conditioners. The Essick Air N28W Window Evaporative cooler does not require the wiring and venting associated with installing a central air conditioning unit. A handy installation kit makes setup a breeze. Just mount the swamp cooler in your window using the window filler panels, leveling legs, and window retainers.

Comments about Essick Air N28W Window Evaporative Cooler:
The quality is OK, but assembly could have been a lot better. Cooler needs an adjusting device to direct air up/down. The blower motor is noisy! Even after I placed rubber isolators under the support brackets, it still generates a low pitched vibration that is carried throughout the house structure in the area of the cooler.
Comments about Essick Air N28W Window Evaporative Cooler:
We bought one in July, and it quit in September. I do not recommend.
