  • Product Overview

Are you certain that your symptoms are related to allergies? The real culprit could be your indoor air quality. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has found that the indoor air quality inside homes and buildings can be anywhere from 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outdoors. Fiberglass contamination is one indoor air quality issue contributing to this worsening rate.

Fiberglass particle contamination – whether it's caused by exposed insulation or the presence of fiberglass-lined HVAC ducts – can ultimately turn into an environmental health nightmare. Even in small doses, fiberglass particles, fragments, and dust can trigger intense allergy-like reactions in people with already weakened immune systems. Larger doses can make everyone in your home or facility progressively ill over a period of months, weeks, or days. The only way to identify fiberglass poisoning is through professional indoor air quality testing. And now, you can save money and get professional-quality results with this do-it-yourself fiberglass test kit.

    Fiberglass Testing Procedure

Manufactured by Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory (EDLab), the Fiberglass Screen Check Kit includes all the materials you need to complete a fiberglass screening on your indoor air. The kit features Bio-Scan 400 tape, which is used to collect an air quality sample so that EDLab technicians can identify fiberglass particles (counts/cm2).

Sampling the air is simple and foolproof when you use the kit's step-by-step instructions and the detailed explanation on how to handle the collection tape and retrieve the sample. Once sampling is complete, you'll place the collection tape in the protective plastic case and mail it to EDLab. A pre-addressed envelope is included in the test kit, and lab fees are included in the price. Within 7 to 10 days, you'll receive the results of your environment's full fiberglass lab analysis and a free fiberglass fact sheet.

Comments about Allergen Test Kits Fiberglass Test Kit:

In a building I rent space for my business. I have been in this building for more than 5 1/2-yrs with no extreme health issues. At the point during the Month of October 2014 I began to have breathing issues. Spent more than $3,000.00 of my own money to try and arrest the issue. My Landlord helped with the issue only after I let him know of my dissatisfaction with his intervention.
I had the space checked professionally - by a PhD, and she found little mold and made recommendations, one was to do some cleaning up in the attic space – it was thought that if all insulation was replaced, the area vacuumed, and a layer of protective plastic to seal the area. This was to be done so that "whatever "I was affected by and filtering into my space would be eliminated. This was suggested to my Landlord, who rejected the suggestion, instead, decided to replace the Furnace and Duct Work. The furnace and duct work are only a carrier to what I have been exposed to.
While the furnace and duct work have been changed, I have experience the same health issue, which by the way, cause me not to be able to breathe very well – to where my lungs ache, extremeness hurt, tingle, and are numb.
About three-weeks ago I was wondering if there was a chance of having the office checked for Fiberglass contamination. I had, as explained, the office inspected for Mold (twice), but I also did testing for Formaldehyde (twice), showing no tall tale signs of either. I went on-line and could not find someone local to do the inspection for Fiberglass, but I came upon Sylvane's website and the Fiberglass Testing Kit.
I honestly didn't think I'd find anything, but ordered the testing anyways, performed the testing with the easy testing kit, sent the kit back for analysis, and it proved something I did not expect. It came back 100% Positive – Levels High.
My Landlord told me at one point recently when I again confronted him about my issue – he said, "Prove it." He wanted me to prove that I was even having the issue. In a moment of defiance, I told him I would, never thinking I would.
What I am getting so ill from is the brake down of Fiberglass, and Fiberglass Dust that is floating in the Office Air. It is so bad, in order not to get sick, I have to wear a Respirator. Not a dust mask, a Respirator.
Thanks to Sylvane and their Fiberglass Tester, I now know what is making me sick. I am consulting an attorney to see what I do with this new revelation.
