Comments about Friedrich Breeze 24000 BTU Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump - BR1224W3A:

The only issue I have with this unit is the faulty design associated with the hose storage in the rear of the inside unit and the extreme difficulty this presents during the installation process. This should not have been allowed to hit the market with this type of issue without further engineering. This is a shame, as the rest of this unit, both inside and outside, are what is expected and so far, is superb. Extremely quiet and efficient. Performance would yield 5 stars, however, due to the shoddy design of the line set fit as stated above, brought it to 4.

Comments about Friedrich Breeze 24000 BTU Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump - BR1224W3A:

This has the potential to be a great product. It is easy to use and install. It worked great for a couple of months. When the weather switched over to winter we notice that the thermostat or motherboard was having issues. The temperature would go way past or below desired temperature. To make a long story short it has been going on near 4 months now and a part is still on back order. Freidrich is no good at standing behind their product. I have been running a busted unit all winter waiting on parts. They keep giving me the run around. This is still not resolved. I am frustrated.

Comments about Friedrich Breeze 24000 BTU Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump - BR1224W3A:

I was looking forward to having the Freidrich Breeze. I paid additional expenses of hiring an electrician to run the higher voltage receptacle for it. Imagine the let-down feeling when the outdoor unit wouldn't work and gave the indoor unit error code U5. Freidrich customer service said the mother board is bad and they do not provide service in our state. They recommended asking the seller for a replacement. Freidrich said the system should not be sold outside the service areas. Given the size, weight, and expense of the item, in the future I will buy locally to make sure I will not loose a small fortune. At this time, I am waiting to see what Sylvane will do for me.

Comments about Friedrich Breeze 24000 BTU Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump - BR1224W3A:

I ordered this planning to install it myself after receiving several outrageously high bids for installation of mini-split AC-Heat Pump systems for my second story addition (a 550 square foot master bedroom and bathroom). With the help of the handyman working with me on the addition, we got it installed in about 6 hours, and could have done it faster. The unit works great. It is extremely hot here in Texas right now, and this thing cools like a champ. Once the room cools down, it is very quiet - that really surprised me. It can be loud in turbo mode, but you don't need to run turbo mode once a room is cool, or really ever if you leave the unit on, from what I can see so far. I can't emphasize enough how quiet the thing is - quieter than my central AC downstairs, and much quieter than a clunky intermittent window unit. Also surprising to me is that fact the whole room stays cool evenly, including the bathroom, so long as I leave the door open.

This is a great unit, and saved me $2,000+ on install. It was not totally intuitive to install. The instructions are vital - follow them to a T. And then just be aware that you can firmly but gently pull the copper tubing straight once you get the tubes hanging outside your house. If you feel capable of reading instructions and doing something as challenging as, say, installing a vent through your roof or wall, you can do this. Certainly a good handy-person can do it for you, getting in down in 4-8 hours.

And the performance far exceeds my expectations. The only downside is that mini splits are not that attractive - I wish there was a version of the Breeze that worked as a receesed ceiling casette. I would also recommend having a ceiling fan in the same room as the split to circulate air, since the split keeps the room cool but will not necessarily move the air around as much as a central AC system - and the air movement is nice. Still, wholeheartedly recommend this as a solution for cooling individual rooms.
