3-Stage Filtration = Outstanding Efficiency
The efficiency of the C-90B comes from the unit’s 3 filter stages. First, air travels in through a prefilter that captures the largest particles. Next, air moves through an electrostatically charged main filter cartridge. Finally, air moves through a carbon filter to eliminates gases and odors. The system:

• Has a 3-speed fan to quickly eliminate odors, dust, pollen, tobacco smoke, and other airborne pollutants.
• Uses inexpensive carbon filters for additional odor filtration.

The Friedrich C-90B uses a 4-step process (pictured below) to filter air particles, odors, and fumes. The filtering process creates fresher, cleaner air to reduce breathing problems for those with allergies or respiratory sensitivity. The filter works as follows:

The prefilter catches the larger particles as air in the room is drawn through the rear grille. In the ioinizing section of the electronic cell, billions of microscopic particles become electrically charged as they pass through a powerful electric field. Collector plates immediately attract these charged particles. Finally, an activated carbon filter removes common odors and fumes as the clean air is circulated back into the room.

Excellent air cleaner. There are 2 heavy smokers in this household and this air cleaner does an amazing job even on the low/quiet setting.
