This is installed to cool a small office, about 250/275 sqaure feet. It has more than enough power to cool the entire office, even with 6 or more people in it for a meeting. The office is a detached garage in lower NY state. the unit replaced an 8,000 BTU window/wall unit that was too noisy and had a hard time cooling the space. The indoor unit is super quiet (all you really hear is the actual air movement), and hte outdoor unit is even quieter! The outdoor unit make a quiet, electronic-like hum. The back-for-the-buck on this unit is top notch. A friend of mine has a dual zone 18k BU unit (same brand), and it has been working flawlessly for 2+ years. Every window unit should be replaced with one of these.
