The P-12B ZoneAire portable air conditioner is ideal for supplemental cooling of your home, office, sunroom or dorm. This dual-hose air conditioning system provides fast cooling, while the bucketless design is perfect for easy operation. Additional features make total operation a snap.

Precise Programmable Controls

This unit's programmable controls make operation convenient and easy. Use the 24-hour timer to program on and off times and conserve energy while at work, yet come home to perfect comfort as the air conditioner automatically lowers the desired room temperature prior to your arrival.

Bucketless

Bucketless system with self-evaporative condensate system to remove excess condensate through the exhaust hose. And, under higher humidity operating conditions, a back-up, built-in reservoir will hold excess condensate. Should the reservoir fill up, a water full light will illuminate on the control panel and the unit will shut off automatically for your convenience.

Use this unit in a good sized bedroom with good results. It cools the room evenly and quietly. Do wish the blue light on the control panel had a cover. It lights up the room at night.

I live in an apartment building that has old casement windows (no crank!) so window air conditioning options are limited to portable or one designed for our casement windows. We opted for the portable one because we can take it with us when we move!

Key features that sold me on this product were:

Dual hose design: The air intake is outside so your newly cooled air isn't vented outside. This makes the unit more efficient, which is usually a drawback to portable AC's

Self Evaporation: I haven't needed to empty the water tank yet. This unit evaporates the water while in use!

Programmable: It's easy to program the AC to run during a specified time of day. It lets me come home to a cool house without running the air conditioner all day!

===Drawbacks===

Installation: The AC comes with a kit that makes it easy to install in virtually any size sliding pane window, but it does not come with an installation solution for crank or casement windows. I ended up having a plexiglass replacement pane made with vent holes and had to install that into the window frame (see picture).

Hoses: The hoses are stiff and big. They extend a lot, but the stiffness makes it harder to place the AC close to the window. I'd suggest cutting them shorter otherwise the unit sits about a foot away from the window when the hoses are completely unextended.

Noise: The noise isn't bad when the fan is set to low but it's pretty loud on High.

===Conclusion===

I'm satisfied with my purchase. It's a high quality air conditioner that includes all the important features for efficiency and convenience. It's an excellent brand as well. I've owned Friedrich AC's in the past and they've never let me down.

I already had one Freidrich air conditioner and am very pleased with it. I bought this one largely because of that. It was quite easy to install and works great. It makes a little more noise than I would like, but that is understandable, of course, since the entire unit has to be inside the room. I recommend it highly
