Comments about Friedrich ZoneAire PH14B Portable Air Conditioner With Heat Pump:
I am using it for heating. The thermostat is too close to the heating output thus it rarely comes on at the desired set temperature. Also, it often shuts off almost 4-5 degrees above the set temperature and thus the thermometer stays warm for a long time before sending accurate temperature reading to the unit to turn on again. This makes the thermostat and operation of the unit erratic. I think it is a design flaw. It would be optimal to have the Remote Control function as the Thermostat like the Ductless heat pumps out there. I would pay more for a remote with this function.
Another thing is the unit should be supplied with felt gaskets to seal up the exhaust and intake tubes going out the window.
I bought two units but I haven't tried monitoring the 2nd unit for similar problems with the thermostat. However, I doubt if any other Manufacturer of this type of Portable Heat Pump is better than Friedrich? Likely not.
