Formerly known as Germ Guardian, Pure Guardian stays true to its reputation for innovation with its largest-capacity and longest-running humidifiers. The H4500 and H4600 models run for up to 144 hours at a time. They are equipped with Silver Clean Technology, which curbs the growth of mold and mildew on the surface of the tank so that you can spend less time on cleaning and maintenance. These models also feature quiet ultrasonic operation, warm and cool mist options, a low water indicator, and a large 2.4-gallon split tank for easy filling. The H4500 is manual, and the H4600 is digital with an LED display.
Humidifiers relieve respiratory problems and sinus irritation while preventing walls and furniture from cracking. However, they can require daily cleaning to keep mold and mildew out of the water tank. The Pure Guardian H4500 and H4600 humidifiers limit this growth with Silver Clean Technology, which harnesses the natural power of microscopic silver particles to kill bacteria on contact. This extends the life of your humidifier, creates cleaner mist, and simplifies maintenance and cleaning. You never have to buy or clean replacement evaporating pads, filters or wicks.
Ultrasonic technology breaks apart water molecules with a vibrating metal diaphragm to create fine mist. This process allows for near-silent operation. These humidifiers run continually for up to 144 hours—or 6 days—on the low setting (depending on your atmospheric conditions). Each model comes with a 2.4-gallon tank that is split into 2 halves for easier filling in a sink. A helpful low water indicator LED light alerts you if your humidifier needs to be refilled. Both models feature a soft-glow night light.
Controlling your indoor air humidity is simple with easy-to-understand controls. The H4500 is manually controlled with two adjustable dials—one selects a warm or cool mist, and the other adjusts the amount of humidity and spray level for your room.
The H4600 model features a digital display and touch buttons for more precise control. Press the Spray Control button to disperse the perfect amount of warm or cool moisture into your room. This unit humidifies large or small rooms using 3 spray control settings, including Low, Medium, and High.

I bought the 4500 about a month ago. The primary reason I bought it was that it does not require replaceable filters. I found it is by far the quietest humidifier I have ever owned. However, if you are going to put out over a modest amount of moisture the machine has to be put on a pedestal to prevent the floor from becoming damaged by the moisture.
One of the first things we noticed was the air in our home was becoming cloudy (as seen through shafts of sunlight through the windows). Then there was fine white dust all over the house, upstairs and downstairs. The troubleshooting guide states the dust is caused by hard water. I have a water softening system installed so I don't have hard water. The guide also offers to sell you a decalcification filter that run from $20-$25 a piece (plus shipping) or recommends you use distilled water. Really, I have to buy water for my humidifier?
I am returning it. It still requires filters, which I have no idea how long they last, it requires a stand of some sort or it gets the floor wet, and it puts out a lot of dust that gets everywhere. It also drips a lot when you remove it from the bottom to refill it. Neat idea but still needs refinement.

Comments about Pure Guardian H4500 and H4600 Ultrasonic Humidifiers:
We use this unit in the bedroom. It is actually covers more area than we needed, but a previous unit made us caution to the larger to make sure of coverage. We use it on the lower setting and it does a wonderful job of humidifying the bedroom.

I simply think this humidifier is GREAT
Comments about Pure Guardian H4500 and H4600 Ultrasonic Humidifiers:
We are very pleased with the Pure Guardian H4600 Ultrasonic Humidifier we have it in a large room with cathedral ceilings, this same room also has a pellet stove which is very efficient but really dries the air out. Even though we have only had your unit for a short time we are very pleased and feel the output of the mist has really made a difference.
We are planning to purchase a bit smaller unit for our bedroom soon. Having said all this there is only one thing we found that has been a problem, the machine is easy to fill but heavy to carry when filled. It would be much easier if you could devise a way to fill the unit instead of having to carry it full. Also it really drips when you are carrying it to and from the water source, we carry a cookie sheet under it. The good really exceeds the bad but I would have to give it an above average rather than an excellent rating for that reason. Would definitely buy it again!

This is a very high quality humidifier. It's extremely quiet compared to other humidifiers that we've had. Easy to operate, and I like the low water light
Comments about Pure Guardian H4500 and H4600 Ultrasonic Humidifiers:
The Pure Guardian H4500 is extremely quiet and runs continuously for days on the low cool setting.
There are no added accessory costs and a big plus is the reduction of mold and mildew buildup.
