This vacuum can clean and help sterilize your floors and carpets. With the addition of a germicidal ultraviolet UV-C light in the bottom of this vacuum, sweeping the unit across your floors will not only clean them of dirt, allergens, and other particles, it will also kill a host of microorganisms. This vacuum is a great solution for anyone with allergies, children, or pets, or for anyone who strives to keep their home supremely clean.
How Halo Works
In one sense, the Halo works just like any other high-quality vacuum. The powerful suction of the Halo Vacuum will provide excellent removal of particles on both carpets and non-carpeted flooring. One key to the strong suction is the two separate unit motors -- one motor powering the brushroll and one motor forcing the airflow. This dual motor design ensures that each component will receive the amount of power that it needs, thus achieving an excellent level of clean. In addition to the traditional vacuum capabilities, the Halo Vacuum also has a revolutionary built-in UV-C light in the bottom of the unit to provide the additional germ-killing action. By just vacuuming as you normally would, you can kill microorganisms growing on the surface of your carpets and floors.
Why Ultraviolet Light?
Ultraviolet light has been used for decades in water purification and hospital sterilization. Using UV light to clean your carpets and floors is for the same purpose -- killing germs, bacteria, and other critters growing in your home. The UV-C light has been tested in independent laboratories to effectively kill 99% of:
- Viruses (E.Coli, Influenza, Poliovirus, Infectious Hepatitis)
- Bacteria (Anthrax, Tuberculosis, Salmonella, Typhoid fever, Dysentery, Streptococcus viridians, Cholera)
- Flea Eggs
- Dust Mite Eggs
- Molds (Penicillium expansum, Aspergillus Niger)
In as little as one second, the Halo Ultraviolet Vacuum was successful at killing 99% or more of these germs on surfaces exposed to its powerful UV-C light. Just vacuum as normal and let the Halo Vacuum work for you.
Halo and Pets
One female flea can lay about 18 eggs a day. Because fleas usually lay their eggs while your pet is sleeping, your pet’s resting areas and surrounding carpeting are likely sources of fleas and their waste. Even if you don’t see fleas, you may not be safe. Flea larvae and pupae can hide and survive on your carpet until adult maturity
- Flea eggs can lay dormant on your rug or carpet until your pet or your children become their next meal.
- Halo is the only vacuum cleaner in the world that can kill fleas and flea eggs living on your carpeted surfaces and floors with its ultraviolet light potentially destroying its life cycle.
- In addition to killing fleas and flea eggs, the Halo Ultraviolet Vacuum can kill dust mite eggs and certain common forms of bacteria and viruses.
HEPA Air Filtration
The UV-ST is the second generation Halo Vacuum, replacing the original UVX model. In this new model, the dust bags have been improved to serve a dual purpose. They will, of course, collect the dirt, pollen, and everything else that is sucked up by your vacuum. In addition, these bags will provide HEPA air filtration. HEPA filters can remove up to 99.97% of allergens down to 0.3 microns in size form the air. This high level of air filtration will make sure that what dust and dirt gets collected by the vacuum, stays in the vacuum, and does not get blown back into your room. Best of all, there are no expensive HEPA filters to replace. The Halo dust bags can do it all.
Safety Precautions
Ultraviolet UV-C light has been used for many years in water treatment plants, laboratories, and grocery stores to sterilize and clean air, water, and other surfaces that collect germs and dirt. UV technology is completely safe for you, your family, and your pets. The Halo does come with numerous safety features to ensure that the UV light does not shine on anything that you are not trying to clean:
- The Halo Vacuum must be in the standard operating position, not the upright locked position, to activate the UV-C light.
- The UV-C light will disengage if the product is tilted or if the wheels are raised off the carpet in any manner.
- The UV-C light will not engage when attachments are in use.
- Even if the vacuum is turned over, the UV-C light will not activate.
