This 1,500-watt ceramic heater oscillates from side to side to ensure even heat coverage throughout a space. The unit features a variety of easy-to-use control features as well as numerous safety controls that help take the worry out of operation.
Two Modes, Easy Automatic Heating
The HZ-385BP portable heater includes two heating modes: a Max Heat mode for continuous heating and an Energy Saver heating mode that regulates power consumption overtime. In Max Heat mode, the heater runs continuously, producing 1,500 watts of heat. In Energy Saver mode, the heater heats continuously, but limits its power consumption to 900 watts. This mode can help you save on monthly energy costs.
Along with its two heating modes, this Honeywell space heater has a temperature set function that performs automatic heating. All you have to do is set your desired temperature (between 45°F and 80°F). The unit will run until that room temperature is reached and then cycle on and off to maintain that temperature. This helps you further control your energy use.
Multiple Safety Controls
The Honeywell HZ-385BP ceramic heater has numerous safety features to help calm your worries during operation. These include:
- Safety Auto-Off Motion Sensor – This infrared motion sensor automatically shuts off the portable heater if an object is placed too close to the heater.
- SafeGuard Alert Badge – This indicator changes color from black to red when the grille is hot in order to prevent burn injuries.
- Overheat Protection – This switch shuts off the unit if the high temperature limit is reached.
- Tip-Over Protection – This function automatically disables space heater operation if it is accidentally tipped over. It is especially useful with pets and young children around.
- Backup Thermal Circuit Breaker – Permanently shuts down the heater if it operates at higher than normal temperatures.

This heater is fantastic. I love the power save feature, the rotation, the temperature display and the programmable thermostat. It heats a fairly large area well, and has a blue sensor at the bottom so that if anyone comes too close it shuts down. It also shuts down as a safety feature if you pick it up or adjust its position. The only drawback that I can see is that if it shuts down as part of its safety functions, it will reset the programmed temperature you have set to the factory setting of 75. This is not a problem if you want it that warm, but if you have it set for something else, you will have to reset it each time an auto or manual shutdown occurs. This really isn't much of a problem because the dial is easy to program. Definitely worth the money!

The Honeywell Tower Heater is a perfect size, it's nonobstrusive, and heats an area well. We used it in a 12 x 12 waiting area with numerous windows and cold drafts from an entry way. The oscillating feature ensures that the warm air is dispersed. An added plus was that fact that it's relatively quiet during operation and automatically turns off if someone touches the front of the tower - a safety feature perfect for small children.
