I feel the heater will save us money as I put it front of our fireplace where we have a lot of heat loss. The heater seems to make the heat more even in the room than it was previously and I have been able to turn our oil furnace thermostat down a bit. As I unplug the unit when it is not in use for safety reasons, every time the unit is plugged in and restarted, it automatically goes to the continuous run feature.

It would be helpful if the directions indicated that the default setting for the unit is continuous run. I had to figure that out myself as it wasn't clear why the continuous run feature was on every time after the heater was unplugged. It would be helpful for the instructions to call attention to the fact that after the unit is unplugged, if the customer wants it to cycle in and out according to the need for more or less heat, then the Temp/Timer button needs to be pressed to change that setting. There is a step missing in the instructions for that.

Overall, my family and I feel that the heater is a good one, worthy of the Honeywell name.

I returned the unit for two reasons. One, the cover of the unit became extremely hot and I felt it would be dangerous if someone brushed against it. Second the thermostat did not register the rooms temperature accurately. The room was 67 degrees. I had to set the unit at 80 degrees so it would remain on long enough to warm the room and then it only went up to 69 degrees.

Doesn't seem to heat our 10 x 10 room very well. This is a sun room, lots of windows, etc.

We live in South Texas and needed a heater for our enclosed porch -this has been a wonderful addition to the porch- I have my coffee out there and our bird lives happily in a warm climate

Not What I Expected

By Edward Raish

Comments about Honeywell Low Profile Silent Comfort Heater (HZ-519):

When I ordered the heater, I was impressed by the good reviews. It seems to heat well enough, but it sure is noisy. The "BANG" noise it makes when it turns on or shuts off is extreme. It's so loud, that it wakes me and my wife up. The heater is used upstairs in my home and I am able to hear the noise downstairs when it happens. I don't recommend using the timer or thermostat mode because of the noise. If you turn it on and just let it keep heating, it's okay. Get's quite hot though. Both the heater and the room.

I Have Two of These Heaters Now.....

By Harvey R.

Comments about Honeywell Low Profile Silent Comfort Heater (HZ-519):

I purchased my first of the two heaters about 3 years ago. I bought it to use in my unheated 3 season porch. We bring a number of valuable plants into the porch every fall including two important ficus trees I have had for many years. I set the heater at 55 degrees and it does a nice job of keeping this 11 X 20 room at 55 degrees.

On some of the coldest nights here in Connecticut, it may struggle to keep 55 degrees and if it is say 15 degrees outside, the room may drop to about 45 degrees. But for the most part, it keeps the temp at a safe level for the plants all winter. We go out there in the winter to enjoy the views and it is very comfortable for a short time. I bought a second unit -- same model -- when we got our new golden retriver puppy last December. We set the thermostat at 68 degrees for our 8 week old little guy and he did just fine on many a cold night.

These are very reliable products. They are silent, no fan or blowing whatsoever. The thermostat can be set for a specific temperature or for a number of hours. The only thing I would change is that when you start up the heater just after plug in, the temperature defaults to 75 degrees. Too warm for anyone I think. The other negative is that if the power stops even for one second, the heater shuts down. I had a few times where the heater was off and I did not realize it.

Great heater...great value for the price....worth a few dollars more than many others. You can buy a heater for $25.00 but you may be risking your life. This is a solid safe product.

An Okay Heater

By Edward Raish

Comments about Honeywell Low Profile Silent Comfort Heater (HZ-519):

The thermostat on the heater only turns the heater on and off when the heater itself reaches the desired temperature. It heats the room okay, but takes more time than originally thought. I would buy another heater. Good quality for the price.
