Replaced original unit which it turns out to be too small for the size of the house. This unit is much better inspite of having to open up the cutouts on the ducts.

The product was delivered very quickly. My friend installed it, but he is a professional. The only difficulties he had was to make sure it was level because my return was a bit lopsided. Also we had to purchase a bit more of the tubing for the air flow (not sure the proper name). What was included was not quite long enough.

My friend prefers this type of humidifier as you can rinse out the drum cover rather than replace it. And if you chose to replace it, it is inexpensive compared to maintenance of other styles. The other problem I have is that my heating system is much to large for my house, thus my heat does not run enough to give as much humidity as I would like. It is attached to the fan of my heating system and operates with the fan. So we set my fan to go on 3-4 times per day for two hours since I have a programmable thermostat. I have had it less than a month, but so far so good. My humidity is staying 36-40% when set on about the midpoint. I would recommend professional installation.

The installation instructions were OK but not totally accurate. For example the drawing of the humidistat appeared to be of a different model. Regardless I got the unit installed without too much hassle.

The only operational complaint I have is if I set Humidistat at the recommended level for the outdoor temperature condensation appears on some of the windows, especially the ones that a shade or curtain is closed during the day. This of course could lead to premature window replacement if the moisture is left to slowly rot the window frame.

The comfort of the house seems to be just a little better with the unit and there are no more sparks when I touch something metal after walking across a room. I guess this means the humidifier is doing what I got it for.
