Product Overview

Curb the uncomfortable and damaging effects of dry winter air using a single, easy-to-install solution, the Honeywell HE360 Whole House Powered Flow-Through Humidifier. This whole house humidifier – also known as the Honeywell HE360A Humidifier and Honeywell Model # HE360A1075/U – works in unison with your home's HVAC system to disperse soothing moisture throughout your home as you heat. The unit is designed to service homes sized up to 4,500 square feet and is best for use with variable speed and multi-stage systems. The HE360 furnace humidifier also includes a duct- and wall-mountable humidistat for easy control over the amount of humidity dispersed.

Why Use a Humidifier?

Humidifying during the colder months helps prevent health symptoms caused by overly dry air, including dry sinuses, scratchy throat, bloody nose, cracked lips, and dry skin. It also helps to protect your home's interior foundation and furnishings, such as walls, wallpaper, wood floors, and wood furniture. In addition, proper humidification can actually make your home feel warmer, which allows you to turn down your thermostat and save money on energy costs and consumption.

How It Works

The Honeywell HE360 Whole House Humidifier blankets your home with soothing, healthful moisture – with no bypass ducting required. Simply mount the system directly onto the warm air supply or air handler of your forced-air furnace using the included connecting components, installation kit, and installation video for guidance. Note that you'll need access to a nearby floor drain to provide drainage for air conditioner condensation as well as the humidifier. If you do not have access to a floor drain, consider the Honeywell HE120 Whole House Drum Humidifier, which requires no drain, as an alternative solution.

During humidification, the HE360 system draws heated air through a moistened humidifier pad (included), where it collects invisible moisture. This Honeywell whole house humidifier features a PerfectFLO™ water distribution tray that maintains fast and thorough humidifier pad saturation for even moisture distribution. This process ensures that up to 18 gallons of moisture is distributed throughout your home each day.

Easy Humidity Control and Maintenance

The HE360 furnace humidifier includes a standard, duct- and wall-mountable humidistat to help you easily adjust the amount of moisture dispersed throughout your home. To control the humidity, use the combination relative humidity/outdoor temperature setting scale on the humidistat and refer to the recommendation table listed in the owner's manual. The HE360 humidifier's unique flow-through design means that it stays cleaner longer and requires less frequent maintenance. Honeywell recommends that you clean the system every 1 to 3 months to prevent mold, mineral, and microorganism buildup, depending on your water quality.

The product works well. It took about an hour and a half to install the unit. The wiring connection took a few minutes to understand. If you don't know how to compete a low voltage circuit, do not attempt. For those who know how to make a low voltage circuit loop:

    SETUP

Before setting up the humidistat and air pressure switch, strip two ends of the yellow leads on the humidifier and twist these leads together. Turn on the blower of your ac/heating unit. If you see water coming down the drain pipe, then you are good to set up the humidistat and air pressure switch. If not, call customer service, and go through the steps of verifying the transformer is working. I had to get a new transformer shipped and installed it myself after we discovered the unit was defective. DO NOT USE THE RED LEADS COMING OFF THE HUMIDIFIER. This is important. They are not used in this installation.

There are four leads coming off the humidifier - two are red leads (do not use these red leads – leave them alone) and two are yellow leads (the yellow leads are the only ones you use). There are two black leads on the humidistat. There are two wire connector clips provided in a bag to use on the air pressure switch.

You should have enough wire to make the circuit: from the humidifier to the humidistat. From the air pressure switch that you mounted to the humidistat (one wire with two leads going to each unit). The wire I used was standard copper red and white color that was provided in the box. I cut the wire in equal lengths because the distance from the air pressure switch and the humidistat and from the humidifier and the humidistat are the same. Also, I wall mounted the humidistat for easier access in the hallway.

    INSTALLATION

The humidistat has two black leads coming out of it. Take one of the black leads from the humidistat and connect it to one of the red wires. Connect the other end of that red wire to one of the yellow leads coming out of the humidifier. It does not matter which black lead from the humidistat you use, or which yellow lead on the humidifier you use. Take the red wire from the air pressure switch and connect it to the other black lead on the humidistat. This creates your red circuit.

Take the white wire and connect it to the other yellow lead on the humidifier. Do not connect the white wire to anything at the humidistat. You will take the other white wire from the air pressure switch and use a twist nut to connect the two white wires together at the humidistat. Let these wires hang, and only connect the two white wires together at the humidistat. This creates the "common" circuit.

If done correctly, you will have a red wire circuit from the humidifier (from one yellow lead) to humidistat (from one black lead) to air pressure switch using the wire clip provided. You will have a white wire circuit from the humidifier (from one yellow lead) connected together for a loop at the humidistat (not connected to the humidistat) to the air pressure switch using the wire clip provided.

Plug the unit in – make sure the drain tube is run to the drain. Turn on the fan of your heating/ac unit. Turn the humidistat to 30 or 40. You should hear a very audible click from the humidifier and the fan should run. The unit should work and you will see water coming out of the humidifier.

Honeywell HE280 filled my needs better.

I returned this product and purchased the Honeywell HE280 which is the same unit except it uses heated air from the furnace and does not require an electrician to connect a 120 volt fan.

Don't waste your money on any manufacturer's by-pass type humidifier, none of them are efficient at adding needed humidity during the heating season as is this unit. Tip, remote mount your humidistat next to your thermostat, duct mounting is ridiculous and the manufacturers should not even show this option of mounting location.

Comments about Honeywell Whole House Powered Flow-Through Humidifier (HE360):

I installed the Honeywell HE360A Humidifier in my 3400sf home. I have a furnace in the attic and the basement. I installed it on the basement furnace in about 2 hours time...(my 2 year old helped...) The installation was very easy and the instructions explained each step clearly. Here in Colorado I will be using the humidifier in the winter only so I connected the water line to the hot water pipe…(warm moist air!) I installed the humidifier on the supply side of my furnace and the humidistat is installed on the cold air return duct. This Honeywell unit comes with all necessary materials to install the humidifier on your HVAC system. Screws, thermostat wire, water tubing, water valve, drain tubing. The only thing that I used in addition was some caulking to seal around the humidifier and duct connection. In about 2 days time this unit raised the humidity level in my home from 10% to about 35%. More than adequate in my opinion. I noticed a difference in the air after the first full day and I am not getting a static shock everytime I touch a light switch. This unit made a big difference on the 2nd floor of my home as well. I am very pleased with the Honeywell product and would definitely recommend to friends and family!
Sylvane shipped the humidifier the same day I ordered it. The item arrived quickly and damage free! I am very pleased with the service that I have received from Sylvane and will look to them for any future HVAC needs.

This product took about an hour or so to install, wiring was confusing at first, and the pressure switch didn't work. Purchased a model 50 current sensing relay that was easier and worked the first time. I used copper for the water line instead of the tubing that was supplied. Other than the small stuff, would recommend this humidifier.

Comments about Honeywell Whole House Powered Flow-Through Humidifier (HE360):

This humidifier is a GREAT option for solving all your dry air problems! Just two days after installing, my family can already notice a huge difference...a difference you can actually feel just walking through the house. After using a tabletop humidifier for years, the ease of this unit makes me wish I would have installed this years ago. Installation was mostly straightforward. A little hard to understand the wiring, until I realized that in the manual, they describe the thermostat wire as having black and white wires, when in reality the black was replaced by a red wire. But after figuring that out, it installed as easy as 1, 2, 3! In the installation manual, it makes no mention of a wire cutter/stripper. For others buying the product, be sure to have a pair of these on hand as it will make the wiring portion of the installation a cinch. As an added bonus, the installation DVD that was included with the packaging actually helped out with the overall installation. But don't believe the DVD when it says it should only take an hour to install the unit. I'm sure a professional that does this kind of work regularly could install this unit in an hour, but for a diy'er like me, it took more like three. But considering I never have to fill a humidifier tank again, it was WELL worth the effort. Unit operates very quietly and had I not been the one to install it, I wouldn't even know it was there. I would definitely buy this product again for my home humidification needs.
