I bought two large IQAir systems when my child and two cats moved back home temporarily. The systems and filters are expensive and may be prohibitive for some. However, they were worth every penny for me because I was able to have my child stay with us without my allergies to the cats negatively affect my health.
I put one on the side of the basement where the cats lived (a large area behind closed doors), and one right outside that same area (to catch anything that escaped the other filter system).
The systems worked great and I was able to stay symptom-free for the year- and-a-half that the cats were here. A very worthwhile investment!

The IQAir HEPA filter is used in my HealthProPlus air cleaner. I've been using this air cleaner for about 7 years now and I run it 24x7 at various speeds. High when I'm not home and at 3 or 4 when home. Its cleaning the air in my living room / dining room about 1,000 sq feet.
The filter and machine perform very well and I am totally satisfied with the performance. What is telling to me is the air output area of the IQAir has remained perfectly clean for 7 years! I have other less expensive air cleaners in the bedrooms and the air output areas need to be cleaned about every 6 months. This tells me that airborne dust is getting through the other machines but not the IQAir and HEPA filter.
Also, the hvac system fan is run 12 hours a day using allergen level filters in the air returns. Interestingly these filters are changed every 6 to 8 months and are probably still good since the dust/dirt level on them still is small- one can still see a lot of daylight through them.

All of the filters for this IQ Air HealthPro Plus are expensive compared to filter replacements for other brands of air filters but I have found no other filter to work as well as IQ Air. Tried an Aerus recently(formerly Electrolux) and fumes from the air filter gave me asthma.

My wife and I purchased the IQ Air HealthPro Plus filter system about 4 years ago. She has allergies and we were searching for something that might improve the quality of our air and reduce the frequency and intensity of her symptoms. We chose the IQ Air system after doing some research, including less costly systems. Although the cost of the system was more than many systems, the design of the system made sense, reviews were excellent, and it was rated for areas that would service our living area. I decided enough - we are spending the money and hope the system is as high quality as others suggest. The system has been running flawlessly for 4 years virtually non-stop, and we are sure it has markedly improved the air quality in our home.
The large, high performing, and long-life HEPA filter was a key component of our decision. The size of the HEPA filter and amount of filter media included give it a 2 to 4 year life depending on fan speed. Although impossible for a homeowner to test performance, our opinion is that it does what it is advertised to do, and we are very glad we went with the IQAir System with the IQ HEPA filer.
The change out of the filter is straight-forward; swing the arms away from the unit to lower and decompress the filter stack, which allows access to each of the filters. Once open, the change of the filter takes just a minute. Make sure everything is aligned, and then the arms swing up and compress all the filters so there is NO leakage around the filters. Reset the digital control to start tracking use of the new filter, and you are done.
We purchased the original unit and replacement filter from Sylvane. Their competitive pricing, free shipping, and prompt service have been such that we do not need to look elsewhere.

I love this product. It really helps with the dust in the air that makes my asthma flare up and breathing difficult. I have two puppies that run around causing a stir and this filter really helps keep alot of it from reaching my lungs.
