I suffer from extreme mold allergies, asthma and COPD. This machine has made a vast improvement in my symptoms, is quiet and easy to use. A little pricey but well worth it!
Will be considering purchasing another for my bedroom.

We purchased this unit in Feb of 2012 - I like to wait awhile before I review! After one year of service the IQ air purifier has worked without fault. We run the unit 24-7 in our living room. With a baby on the way we became more concerned about indoor air quality. All the review I read said this unit was the best. I can't speak for other units as this is the only one I've had, but it works as advertised.

The unit is loud. We run it on the setting 3 (it has 6) The reason simply being that we couldn't hear the TV if we ran it much higher! I've changed the pre-filters twice. By the time the alert tells you to change it (which is a nice feature) ours was pretty much caked up with hair, dust and all sorts of things on the OUTSIDE of the filter. On the inside - the business end - it was clean. The yellow warning light is on for us to change the HEPA, but I've not done it yet. I want to extract every hour out of the filters because they are also very pricey. I do like the warning lights for filter changes.

One thing I wished that it had was some sort of lock to keep the plug into the unit or if the electric cord was hard wired. My son is always pushing it around and pulling the plug out... the end of the plug is still hot with 120V...so... we keep a close eye on him - in this case the thing being so loud is a good indicator when he pulls out the cord!!

All in all we've been pleased with the air purifier and we would buy this product again

Per my son's allergist, we researched this IQAir Air Purifier for his bedroom. The local Roswell, GA Sylvane office representative was very helpful in explaining the product, how it works, when to replace filters, etc. I ordered the same day online and received a shipment in just a few days.

Since plugging it in, my son sleeps well for the first time in 11 years! His mold sensitivity is great but this IQAir has removed mold spores from his room. The noise is comparable to white noise and actually helps him sleep too.

He now has a "safe room" in the house and is well-rested because of the IQAir HealthPro. I would buy again and wish I could afford a unit for every room!

Our 7 yr old daughter gets a bad cough when the winter turns really cold here in Michigan. We found out she is allergic to our cats and the cold brings out the worst since her system is already inflamed. The allergist put her on 3 different medications that did nothing to help with her cough and ended up making her very jumpy and disruptive at school.

We took her off all the meds and bought the IQAir HealthPro Air Purifier and her cough is significantly better. It's only bad when the weather drops below 30 degrees. Even when the weather drops her cough is nothing like it used to be. The doctor was amazed at how much better her breathing capacity was after we stopped the meds and we put the purifier in her bedroom.

I wasn't sure an air purifier would help that much but this product has been a lifesaver for us. Our daughter has spent years suffering through the winters with various drugs that had little or no effect on her. We keep the purifier on a low setting (2 or 3) so it's quiet. Even at that low setting it's made a tremendous impact on her breathing.

I have a multi-cat household and I suspect the dust from the litter boxes was finally getting to us. I had several cats that started wheezing, plus I didn't like the thought of breathing all that dust myself.

Not only have the cats stopped wheezing, but this seems to take away odors in the room that you run it in. It IS pricey, I wish I hadn't had to spend so much, but I'd rather spend more and get something that works, than throw my money away on a cheaper, less effective brand.

Like most families we have a pet, actually in our case a dog, who was a part of our family before the birth of my daughter. My daughter is now 8 and has dog/cat allergies along with asthma that seems to be getting worse with age! Although she's on Nasonex, an inhaler 2x a day, and Singulair... she still clears her throat all day long and each morning when my wife or I wake her, she has accumulated a pile of Kleenex by the side of her bed. Short of getting rid of the dog, which my daughter won't go for, we knew we needed to do something. Someone recommended an air purifier and after hours of reviews and research, we decided to buy the IQair. It was difficult to pay what seemed like extra money, but in our case we decided if this works it could change her life for the better. If not, we could simply return it with Sylvane's return policy.

Well, two weeks later and the results have been incredible. She clears her throat probably 25% as much as before and the Kleenex piles are gone! Before, after bedtime we would hear her clear her throat or blow her nose. Now...nothing!

In the end, we decided to put the unit in the family room. With coverage of 900 sq. ft., it covers the entire family room and probably a number of other rooms on the first floor. We leave it on 24x7. Depending on the time of day, we adjust it to one of the 6 fan settings. At setting 1-2 you can listen to television with no noticeable background noise. At setting 3-4, it's noticeably on but not overwhelmingly loud. At 5-6 you definitely know its on! My wife and I sleep with a large box fan for white noise. On (6) this is noticeably louder than that! That said, it usually stays on level 3.

We were also impressed with the packaging (double boxed) and ease of setup. Simply rolled it in, plugged it in and turned it on! The only downside I can see is size. It is rather large depending what room your planning on putting it in.
In the end, the cost difference was significant compared to other Home Depot type options, but the results for my daughter's health have easily justified the price. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat! For what it's worth, my wife even claims the air smells cleaner!:)

We got the IQAir to help with allergies and general air quality and it has quickly given us excellent results. My wife has had bad allergies for several years and during allergy season she has had a lot of trouble breathing, getting congestion, you name it. We set up the IQAir on high ("6") for 2-3 hours initially and then cut it back to a more normal level ("2"). The effects were quite clear in the first few hours as it did about 250 cubic feet per minute at the "6" setting. That was fairly loud -- you would have trouble reading a book in the same room and you could definitely tell in the rest of the house that it was on, but it did move the air through quickly. We moved it around to different rooms (the coasters came in handy for that) over the next few days to ensure that we went everywhere before setting it up more permanently in a large open space between the kitchen, living room and dining room. That seems to provide enough clear space for it to operate effectively at the lower level. But the good news is that my wife has been breathing much more clearly since we got it. She still, of course, has a horrible time out of doors, but at least it is more manageable inside. To the extent there is a downside, the remote control device is a bit tempermental. Sometimes it works and then other times it doesn't. I'm going to replace the battery and see if it is just a case of having had a battery that runs down. Not that we really need the remote, but if they include one, it would be nice if it were reliable. The product is at the high end of the price spectrum -- that and the battery are why I give it a 4 not a 5 star -- but if you really need clean air, this one does the trick.

My mother was suffering from severe allergies after she moved into an older rental that I believe has a mold problem. She was having asthma attacks and required an inhaler. Then we purchased the IQAir purifier. After about 24 hours, her symptoms subsided. After a week, she's off the inhaler. I cannot say enough about this product. Simply amazing.

Pros:

- Works fantastically well cleaning the air.
- Easy to change filters.
- Has a filter usage indicator and hour remaining display.
- Well built.
- Looks good.
- Definitely works better than the round Honeywell units.
- Remote control is very useful.
- Timer is handy, but limited.

Cons:

- Pricy.

- The low speeds 1+2 are fairly tolerable in the bedroom at night, but 4,5,6 are quite loud. The sound is an 'air moving' sound, not harsh. But if the unit will be close by, look at the CFM at speeds 1,2. That said, on the higher speeds the unit is moving A LOT of air.

- It is big, but looks nice. Note they want the unit placed at least 6" from the walls so it requires more space than it's physical size.

- The timer is handy, but it is only a single timer. I would have liked a dual timer to run fast before bedtime to clear the room, slow down during sleep time to maintain fresh air, then shut off in the morning to conserve energy.

It took about a week to completely clear the chemical smell from the unit even running it full blast for hours at a time. Not a big deal, but definitely longer than their 'few hours recommendation.

Bottom line:

- I would definitely recommend this unit to friends.

- I would also recommend Sylvane. The order was processed and delivered in two days during the Christmas madness, exceeding expectations.

If you are an allergy sufferer or live in one of the states which has air quality problems, then this product is highly recommended. I am very satisfied by the quality of the product and it is true to its claims. The air in the bedroom is completely clear of allergens and hence it is possible to get a good nights sleep without a stuffy nose or sneezing etc.
The noise level of the IQAir product is minimal when operated at a speed of 1 and it is equivalent to white noise which helps you sleep.
The product is no doubt on the expensive side. But it works as per its claims and hence money well spent.
