The Dylos particle counter pro has so far performed very well. The instructions are not completely clear, but sufficient to use the unit. The main thing that you learn from experience about how to use it is that only when it is on "continuous" mode does it gather "minute history". If you put it on "monitor mode" it only samples once an hour; you can tell when by flipping through "minute history" which is all "no data" except one minute, which presumably lets you tell what time the thing is sampling (by subtracting that number of minutes from the time at which you switched to reviewing the history). Since I do not have any other particle monitors, I have no way of knowing how accurate it is, but it gives numbers that are qualitatively reasonable and that are reproducible so I presume it is accurate as claimed in its literature.
For example, my room air is typically perhaps 150/15 (0.5 micron/2.5 micron) meaning that there are 135 (=150-15) particles per 0.01 cubic feet of air between 0.5 and 2.5 microns in size, and 15 that are bigger than 2.5 microns. If I put the intake (on the top of the unit) in the outlet of an IQ Air HEPA filter unit, the count drops to 0/0 (on high speed flow on the HEPA unit). If I take it outside, the count rises to maybe 1600/120, etc. So it definitely responds to particles in the air in a reasonable way. If the A/C runs, the particle count drops; if I tromp around on the floor, it rises, particularly the large particle count. Using it I have been able to find and seal outside air leaks, clean areas that were dusty, see that some unfinished wood panels were pouring out particles (which I fixed by varnishing them), etc. I have been able to reduce the counts in the house by a factor of 2 or 3 into the excellent to very good ranges indicated on the machine, as the literature claimed I would. Since the nearest competitor unit with this much functionality seems to cost about $1500, it is an excellent value and I am very happy with it even with its quirks.
Pros: Seems to give good data, lets you clean up the air in your house, reproducible, easy to use, easy to read, tough (I dropped mine on the floor several times by accident, which did not seem to damage it).
Cons: Instructions not very thorough, takes some playing with to see how to use it, and it takes one to two minutes to come to equilibrium in a new setting so moving it around to "sniff out" sources of dust/mold/whatever takes a fair amount of time.

This was a big disappointment.

Comments about Dylos DC1100 PRO Laser Particle Counter:
I use the unit to monitor PM2.5 for both indoor and outdoor. The result matches the official published data pretty well. When the reading is getting high in the room, I will turn on the air purifier.
Overall operation is easy. However, you can only review the histry recorded data backforwards, can't review the recorded data forwards.

A great product that saves money and improves allergy conditions!
1. Let's you see when HEPA air filters need to be changed. Are you changing them too soon? Not soon enough? Provides info needed to save money by changing filters only when needed!
2. Allows you to place and set air filters for maximum effectiveness.
Bottom line: Provides the information needed to improve house air for asthma & allergy conditions and save money on expensive filter replacements. This is a MUST HAVE item for those with serious allergies or asthma!

I am very allergic to pollens and I use the product to see how effective my room air cleaners are working. The Dylos give a continuouly accurate reading as to the amount of pollutants in the room.

Comments about Dylos DC1100 PRO Laser Particle Counter:
I purchased the DC1100 Pro model because I needed something to help me to test small particles in the air .I search from the net to know this device can detect the particles less than 0.5 microns. It's very useful to detect the health air quality for me.
I just got an air purifier to clean the air in my bedroom, but the sensor of the purifier doesn't so sensitive to the bad air condition. So I need some reliable data to set the purifier's speed to purify the air. When I got the device I can easily know the air quality indoor and outdoor,so I can open the window for fresh air or not.
It can record the data within an hour, that was very helpful to calculate the air purifier purification efficiency,so I can calculate how much the air purifier effect I need to buy next time. Also I use it to record all the data during my sleep. When I was asleep, I turn the air purifier to the lowest speed to reduce the noise, using the device I can easily to know the air quality during the whole night, after that I assured use the air purifier all the night.
DC1100 Pro is very useful to monitor the indoor pollution, but without DC power it can't use to test the air quality in my car, so I got a mobile power to use it everywhere. BTW the 1700 version is a bit expensive, or I may choose it instead of DC1100 Pro.
In short, DC1100 Pro is the most cost-effective equipment for individual users.

this is a must have if you really want to know how good your air quality is and how good your purifier is working and when you need to change your filter, well worth the price and shows you do not have to spend the big bucks to get a good filter, bottom line is what comes out and air flow
Comments about Dylos DC1100 PRO Laser Particle Counter:
Really a must if you are interested in knowing how clean your air is or how well your air cleaner is working. Of course I can't really tell how accurate it is but the numbers do seem to make sense based on the situation I put the sensor in.

Comments about Dylos DC1100 PRO Laser Particle Counter:
I bought this particle counter to test the air coming out of our air filters and it works well. It outputs numbers that give you an idea of how polluted the air actually is. I tested the room air, the air coming out of different filter units, and the outside air. Interesting fact: The outside air is much cleaner than any inside air even after it is filtered to Hepa level (at least in upstate NY).
Comments about Dylos DC1100 PRO Laser Particle Counter:
After viewing this unit being used by many manufactures of air cleaners, it was obvious that if I wanted to have any idea of how well my air cleaners were working, this was the way to go. The unit is VERY easy to use and works perfectly. No problem recommending it to anyone.
Comments about Dylos DC1100 PRO Laser Particle Counter:
Works exactly as advertised and fair price.
