Santa Fe Basement Dehumidifier (FAQ)

See Product Specifications Page

How noisy is the unit?

There are no official published numbers for the decibal rating of this unit. However, we have tested a unit using an analog sound meter at 6 feet away. Sound level varied from 58 db to 62 db, depending on where the tester stood in relation to the unit.

How large of a space can this unit handle?

This unit is officially rated at 2,500 square feet. However, this is only a rule of thumb. In truly sizing a dehumidifier for a space - one must consider ceiling height (cubic volume), building construction (sheet metal construction, concrete, open earth), degree of airflow (one open space vs. multiple rooms), amount of moisture in the space and re-entering the space, layout of the room, position of the dehumidifier, area of the country, temperature in the space, etc. Sizing a dehumidifier can be very complex. We suggest that you call us for further consultation on your environment.

Can this unit be ducted?

Yes! This unit can be supply-ducted, return-ducted, or both. This versatility allows the unit to be used in ways that traditional home dehumidifiers cannot be. You can use this unit in an unfinished basement, centrally placed, with no ductwork. You can also use this unit in a finished basement - with the unit hidden away in a utility closet and ducted as necessary. Ductwork can be branched as needed. If you have a complex ducting question, please call us and we will be glad to discuss your application with you.

How do I get rid of the water from the dehumidifier?

This unit is capable of removing a great deal of moisture from the air during the course of the day. As such, a drip pan is neither practical nor provided. This unit is meant to be setup for permanent drainage. A 6 foot hose drains the water from the unit via gravity. This hose can be fed into a sump pump, into a french drain, or into some other type of floor drain. Alternatively, this unit has an optional condensate pump accessory, which can pump the water from the unit, and which comes with an additional 20 feet of hose. This would allow you to run the hose in an upward direction (up to 15 feet vertical) if needed. Use this configuration if you want to run the hose to the outside of your home, into a sink, etc.

What temperature does the unit operate down to?

This unit operates down to 55 degrees F. This cool temperature operation is sufficient for the majority of basement environments in the country.

Is the unit on wheels?

The Santa Fe unit is on 4 small casters. These casters can be used to roll the unit once on a level surface (such as a basement concrete floor). However, these casters are not meant to roll the unit down stairs, large drops, etc.
