Santa Fe HC FAQs

See Product Specifications Page

What makes this unit different from other Santa Fe units?

The Santa Fe HC differs from other models in the Santa Fe line because of its super-high capacity. It can eliminate 135 pints of water a day at AHAM and more than 270 pints at saturation. This is significantly more than the other units. In addition, this unit is low-profile, and the moist air is drawn in through the front of the unit and the dry air blown out of the back. Because of its design and capacity, this unit is often times used in a large, high-moisture space or in a large crawl space.

How large a space can this unit handle?

This unit is officially rated at 3,500 square feet. However, this is only a rule of thumb. When it comes to large spaces, it's best to get a consultation on your specific environment. Call our product experts at (800) 934-9194 for a free recommendation.

What temperature does this unit operate in?

This Santa Fe HC system is designed to run efficiently in the low temperatures found in basements and crawl spaces. It can continue to remove humidity down to 55°F.

Can I duct this unit?

Yes. Ducting the Santa Fe HC allows you several options for using it in multiple spaces at any one time. This can also help if your space is very long or non-rectangular, where assistance in circulating the air will help with dehumidification.  Ducting also allows you to hide your dehumidifier away in a storage space or place it wherever you need and run ducting to and from your space. The available options to configure the unit are:

  • Leave the unit unducted to work in an open space.
  • Duct multiple rooms for air to flow simultaneously.
  • Duct one room and have it to blow the air into the next room, or vice versa.
  • Run ductwork to the far ends of a crawl space to force air circulation.

Will I have to empty water buckets with this unit?

No. You can set the unit up with the included gravity hose and have it drain to an appropriate location. However, if using the gravity drain isn’t an option for eliminating the collected water, a condensation pump kit is available. The condensate pump will allow you to place the drain hose up and out of a window or around a doorway to your yard or garden. The pumps are energy-efficient as well and work with a flow switch that allows the pump to run only when needed.

How loud is this unit?

This unit is designed for large crawl space areas or large basements.  As such, it has a high-powered fan that will emit about 62 dB of sound. This is not loud for a unit of this capacity. However, the unit will emit a reasonable amount of sound and, as such, is not suitable for placement inside a home theater environment or in a bedroom without proper ducting of the unit.  The unit is rarely audible outside of the basement environment where it is placed.

Why should I invest in an HC? Shouldn't I just buy multiple cheaper units to match its capacity?

The reason for investing in a Santa Fe is simple: other units just aren’t as equipped to handle large moisture loads like the Santa Fe HC. There is just no matching the HC’s capability, not even if you had several smaller-capacity units working in the same space simultaneously. Those inferior units would just run constantly and burn out—costing you more money and headaches in the long run. Plus, these units are made in America and backed by a lengthy warranty.

Is this unit energy-efficient?

Yes. The Santa Fe HC is energy-efficient. It is the hardest-working, highest-capacity, large basement/crawl space dehumidifier available. You can be confident that you can set it up and walk away. The results will speak for themselves.
