We bought the optional HEPA filter as there are allergy sufferers in the house (me). We live in a 900sq. ft. apartment and this little vacuum is amazing. It really sucks, in a good way. We usually use one of the middle settings and it is both amazingly effective (strong suction) and very quiet. Our cat, who's arch-nemesis was our old vacuum, almost doesn't notice it's on until the suction sound gets close to him. Our 5 month old baby can sleep through a thorough apartment cleaning. The wheels on the Miele allow the base to move in any direction, which really makes moving around easy. I would definitely buy another one of these.
