Mold is a rapidly-growing fungus that can be found, at some level, just about everywhere. In areas that are regularly dark and damp, however, mold levels can become problematic. Seeing mold growth, smelling a musty odor, or finding water stains are mold-growth indicators around the home. Unfortunately mold cannot always be seen. It is often hidden within walls, behind furniture, or in other out-of-sight places. And when mold is growing in the home, it is also present in the air. Inhaling mold spores can trigger both allergies and asthma in sensitive people.
This consumer testing kit is an effective way to screen your home or workplace for the presence of mold. This kit is simple to use and provides top-quality test results. Hundreds of types of mold are tested and evaluated for incidence and concentration.
Testing Procedure
The testing kit will be mailed to you complete with everything needed to complete the test. The Mold Screen Test uses a Bio-Scan 400 tape to collect the sample from your home. Step-by-step instructions included in the kit contain a detailed explanation of how to handle the collection tape and take the sample. Once sampling is complete, the collection tape is then placed in a protective plastic case and mailed to the Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory. A pre-addressed envelope is included in the kit. You can expect to receive results within 7 to 10 business days after the sample is received by the lab.
Expert Results
After the sample is received by the laboratory, it will be analyzed using the very highest quality equipment. A report of findings will then be generated and mailed back for you. These results will identify what types of mold were present in your sample, and at what concentration (cts/cm2). The report will also include baseline numbers (based on a 10-year comprehensive study) of what are acceptable - not likely to trigger allergies/asthma - levels of mold incidence. A summary of recommended actions based on your findings will also be included. A toll free number is provided by the lab for any questions you may have about your results.
