Comments about Nilfisk Advance Nilfisk ALTO Attix 30 8-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum:

I own the original version of the ALTO Attix 30 which is the same except for some cosmetic design changes. I have owned this for more than seven years and it continues to serve me well.

I spent years going through the same routine with vaccuum cleaners: buy a cheap model, use it for a couple of years until it started to lose suction and fall apart, throw away and repeat. I finally got sick of it, sat down and did some research and came upon the ALTO Attix. The advantages were clear: no bags necessary; self-cleaning; and the motors on these things simply Do. Not. Die.

I used to be a smoker as well as a pet owner (I was only able to give up one vice, so I still have the cats). Animal fur + cigarette smoke = death to former vaccuum cleaners. The Attix has no problem with it at all. It can do fur, smoke, dirt, food, spiders, glass, metal--basically anything that gets within a foot of the nozzle is going to get sucked up. I still remember the video that sold me on ALTOs... this is what you want in a vaccuum cleaner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLyzWcBb1I

I highly recommend getting the carpet attachment as well as the smaller hand-held version of the attachment; both of these have vaccuum-powered motors that are connected to spinning bristles which make it ridiculously easy to clean cat/dog hair off of furniture or carpet.

I've attached an image of the top and bottom of these attachments.
